bulbs

First post to this group, please be gentle.

Just bought a Brazilian-built CG125. The headlight pilot lamp is blown. The
Haynes manual says the Brazilian CG125 needs a 12V 3.4W whereas the Turkish
    CG's need a 12V 4W bulb.

Question: I've already got some 12V 4W bulbs, does it matter if I use them
instead of a 3.4W bulb . Is it worth hunting out a 3.4W bulb?

If there's any chance the headlight will blow, I'll get the new bulb. I'd
like to pass my test before I ride into a wall.

    Thanks

    Andrew

Just stick a 12v 4W one in, more common.

You may find the FAQ of interest and it is easy to find - of
particular interest would be the whys and wherefores of posting:
    http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ukrmnetiquette.html
Just stick the 4W bulb in, 0.6W is a negligible difference.

  4. Hi Andrew. If the bog standard 4W bulb fits, then it'll do fine - the extra
current drain is insignificant in practical terms.

    Bye from Rick

PS: Re your first request, you may as well ask an alligator to be gentle!

An unlikely response. Make sure that you have read the FAQ, or you will be
    flamed mercilessly.
(Makes Sign of Holy Pushrods.) A wise choice. In fact, The Only True Choice.
There is no chance of a 4W bulb blowing when replacing a 3.4W of the same
voltage (unless an over-voltage fault has occurred). But surely in any case,
as a bike is invisible to a shockingly high percentage of cage monkeys, you
will be relying on the headlight at all times, and the pilot lamp will be
    rather redundant?

Now that may not have been the wisest thing to say here, brace yourself.
I thought a pilor light was something you got on a boiler
No really, no car drivers will see you anyway, might as well get a hurrican
    lamp.
As opposed to waiting till after your test I assume.

Doesn't matter. Wrong time of year. Wait till spring.

Nooooo! Plant Spring bulbs now, innit. My snowdrops are already
    sprouting.

Redundant it may be, but it is still an obligatory lamp.

No numptie no!! You don't plant snowdrops now. You propagate them by
splitting an established clump while it is in flower, in the spring.

Thanks to all who replied. The headlamp projects a circle of dim orange
light about the size of a ten pence piece when dipped, so every little bit
    helps.

Did the valve clearances last week. At the very moment I got the cylinder
head cover off, it started raining. I love winter.
