Bulb Holder

  1. I put my Katana 1325 into the Manx MOT a few days ago. The bike was UK
registered and before it can get a Manx Plate it needs to go through the
    test.

It failed, which wasn't a surprise. The rear disc (off a 1200 Bandit) was
one tenth of a mill below spec. That's getting sorted by means of a new
disc. The headlight was set too high, easy to fix that one.

The main fail was that there was no parking bulb in the headlamp. The wiring
loom is home made and is a bit spaghetti like, so its not an easy option to
wire one in. The ignition switch (which is now located under the seat) I
think doesn't switch over to parking. The vehicle examiner, I think, is
looking for a light which will go on when the switch gear (from a GSXR) goes
to 'p'. The instruments back light lights up at this stage and I thought the
easy way would be to wire into this. There's a hole in the back of the
headlamp to fit in the bulb holder, but I need a bulb holder. Maybe a rubber
one that could jam in if necessary. As the Kat is twenty odd years old, I
don't know if the original bulb holder would be available any longer and
anyway no doubt I would be asked for a part number, which I don't have.

Are small rubber bulb holders available, or would something else fit? All
    suggestions most welcome.

  2. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Julian Ashcroft"
The instrument lights on the Suz GSs are little 2W BC bulbs in a push-in
rubber holder. The same bulbs are available in 4W, afair, just perfect
    for a parking light.

You could always add a little seperate parking light if that floats your
    boat.

I pressume that this is a 5 or 4 watt push-in type bulb and holder? If
so e-mail me your address and I'll send something that should do the
job. You may need to play about with the holder-apperture size...
If not, be more specific and I'll prolly be able to sort something...
