    Two silly mistakes!

Oh well, rebooed it for 8th March. Gives me time to buy all of the
gear. Kawasaki ER-5 being delivered a week Saturday. :( Shame I
can't legally ride it until then.

U-Turn was my only worry, but that was fine!

    I failed on:

Judgement when Crossing - I was rushing everything (OH MY GOD IT'S A
TEST I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THIS SLOW!) and turned right at a junction
and crossed the path of a car(!) - the car had slowed down, but that's
academic because I'd already failed on:

Judgement when Pulling Away - I pulled away from behind a parked car
perfectly, plenty of rear observation, but I didn't notice that a car
    was coming the other way.

They were silly mistakes and were made purely because I was rushing
things. My instructor did a mock test on Wednesday, and only gave me
    one minor (signalling). Oh well!

I'll take it easy next time.

My tester basically just told me to ride as normal, which was basically what
i did, i swapped lanes etc when mine was going too slow etc etc, so, didn't
go too fast, but didn't hesitate or go too slow either.
    Better luck next time.

    See my other reply.

I was just rushing things, which I know is silly. The DSA aren't
looking for a fantastic ride, they're not even looking for a good one.
They know that I'm a learner - all they're looking for is a safe ride.

Nothing too exciting happened. I'm just a bit annoyed at having
failed. I failed my car test twice, so I've had some practice.
Hopefully I'll be in a better state come 8th March.

I failed my first bike test mainly because I wasn't relaxed enough. When
I knew what a fail felt like, I was no longer worried or stressed about
the next test.... so I passed. :)

    Thanks!

The tax on the ER-5 runs out at the end of this month, MoT runs out
Feb '06 (first MoT) and I won't be covered by insurance until 8th
March (when test passed) so I'm a bit confused as to what to do about
    the tax.

Is it work SORN'ing the bike for 8 days?

NTL again. Although when we got stuck in traffic he got a bit tired waiting
for me and suggested that I overtook if I felt it was safe. I *did*, but
only when *I* felt it was safe IYSWIM.

Tax runs in whole months, so you'll be paying tax for the whole time,
regardless. But if you can't tax it, because you haven't got insurance,
then you should - technically - SORN it. In reality, they're not going to
catch up with you for a couple of months, so I wouldn't bother.

....so long as you pass your test. If you don't, SORN it straight away.
All that paperwork? Oh **** yes, it's a total ****.

    1. This is uk.r.m.
    2. What the **** is this then? It is a couple of dashes and your
name - it is a signature which you append to every post, requiring
manual removal by anyone who replies to you. Your name is in your
headers and on the top line of your posts, next to the thread subject.
    What more do you want?

Either ditch it or insert a working separator. FFS, all you have to
do is <space><return> and it's there.

I type it in every time I post. It's like "Nick." but with two dashes
before it. I've been using it for over a decade and I've only
encountered problems with it, and my sig, here. I've even gone to the
trouble of telling Agent NOT to use my standard .sig when I post here.
I am not prepared to stop signing my posts.

You are, of course, free to add me to your shit list. I can see that
my name has caused lots of problems for a couple of people here.

    Regards,
