if i need to check i use an inch pound tension wrench its the smallest ive
got 1/4 drive then we go 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 which is the largest ive got.

most people just do up there sump plugs to tight and never change the alloy
crush washer cause once they are flat they are useless.

Pfft! I've got a torque screwdriver that measures inch-ounces. Not much use
    on motorcycle sump plugs though.

On a GPX250 (and a lot of other bikes with an internal oil filter) you
can just unscrew the oil filter "hatch" and drain the oil that way.
    It's a bit messier though.

And wouldn't that be the failed driveshaft bearing oil seal?

  7. Mine's got a sump but the gearbox drain plug got screwed by some ham fisted
stealership mechanic. The only other time it's leaked oil was when an oil
    filter cracked. Goaty never forgets.
    Ride, ****, same thing.

Try high-temp plumbers tape (gasfitters tape). Worked very well
for me, anyway. Don't use too much, you don't want excess tape
    getting into the motor.

  10. Handy stuff, I got some in the shed. It can't get into the motor from my
gearbox but I still feel more at ease with the helicoil.
