    Better still, let's *all* go.[/QUOTE]

Having been on the receiving end of a "show of support", I can't
    recommend.

    Pl10 + PL20, iirc. £30.

Two-up without L plates, carrying an unqualified pillion. April '79.

Half a dozen schoolmates thought it would be fun to pop along to
Chatham Mag Ct, and give vocal support. I daresay it was. For them.

    Bugger.

Well, having had time to look at the witness statements it appears that one
witness has said that he was in the same flow of traffic as me, there was
traffic coming the other way too, but all traffic was "slow" but theres a
vague 30mph mention. Goes on to say that i overtook him then next thing saw
    me hit the car.
The woman i hits statement basically states she came out of a side road,
turned right into the same flow of traffic as i was in and then stopped to
turn right again into her drive!
Now that to me basically says she pulled into both busy lanes of traffic to
then go back across the oncoming lane to get to her drive and stopped to
    turn right.
Now grasping at straws / hypothesising; she basically was doing a maneuvre
that was three sides of a square. I was already filtering down the lane,
which would become side two of her square where after pulling out in front
of me (side one of square) then stopping suddenly in front of me (side two)
before turning right again onto her drive.

Quite. I was pulling in £11 a week, working Saturdays, at the time.

Three weeks wages, for no L plates.

  8. 30 mph where? The limit of the road, the speed Mr. Witness was going or
    your speed?
Exactly. She hit you, not the other way round.

30 mph where? The limit of the road, the speed Mr. Witness was going or

That he was doing about 30mph, that the car i hit was doing about 30mph and
that i was doing about 35mph.
This is on a 30mph road IIRC.
Whats odd is that he says that he saw it happen 25metres in front of him but
there was a car between him and me when i hit the car that i hit?
Exactly. She hit you, not the other way round.

    <snip>

But I rear ended her. :-/

  11. Tell that to your brief and find out if the witness has to wear glasses
    but wasn't at the time!
That's tricky. You could argue that her manoeuvre was dangerous by
pulling out and immediately stopping, thus giving you no time to stop,
or you could try taking the piss and saying she reversed in the road as
you tried to take avoiding action.

Aye, and on looking at her statement again, and thinking of the proximity
between where she pulled out originally, to where she stopped in front of
me, there is possibly only a distance of less than 50 yards IIRC, now, this
guy said that he saw her doing 30 in that short space.
Im going to have to go look at the exact road configuration and look at the
    distances again.
*heh* could be fun, however, my story has always been that i can't actually
remember much of what happened as i lost conciousness at the scene ;-/

He could also argue that he doesn't remember a fucking thing and get

I had a producer with the wrong street on it. When I went down the
station and pointed it out, the desk sargeant screwed it up and threw
it in the bin. I think it may be worth a try :)

Exactly, so she basically cut into my path then stopping suddenly in front
of me, not having seen me.
All this is what Ive been thinking i have to admit.
    Yes :-/

You paid for legal expenses insurance, not a tie to a particular firm.

  20. If you have a decent brief, he *might* work that.

"PC Plod, can you recall the registration nuimber of the vehicle?"

    'Of course.'

    "Let's hear it."

    'XYZ'

    "Are you sure?"

    'Absolutely'

Repeat ad nauseam to drive the point home, and then hit him with the
fact that it's the wrong registration and should be a black motorcycle.

One discredited piece of police evidence....

I stood in the dock on my birthday and was asked if xxx was my name
and xxx was my date of birth.
    I said no.
    Blank looks all round.
"Whats the problem?" the Clerk of the Court said.
I was very tempted to let them find out for themselves, but in the end
I told them that their DOB was not my DOB and that today was my
birthday. Got a laugh from the bench.
    Still got done though.
    It's not right.
I made a mistake, got caught and paid the price.
They made a mistake, got caught and let off.
