I couldn`t find one myself, hence the idea of multiple 10W items.
Undoubtedly 25W or above items exist, but I was going for the "quick cheap
    fix" angle.)

That wire has a resistance of 4.2 ohm per meter, so obviously 0.042 ohm per
centimeter, 108cm = 4.5 ohm. As for the amount of turns, I wouldn`t think
that would be much of an issue, although to be fair I`m not really genned up
on that side of things (see below regards magnetic field and possible EMP).
With the wire not being enameled, winding it around a smallish former may be
tricky to achieve. You would have to wind one layer evenly spaced until
completion, insulate that layer and so on until complete.

I would imagine any potential magnetic or EMP effect from the coil is
already accounted for, with this coil design already being used in the
    original item.

    A rewind is an option.

The core is half inch across which is about and inch and a half round.
27 turns = 40+ inches plus tails. It looks very close and I do have
    some resistance wire somewhere.
Yes. I could always wind it loose around a waxed paper former, spray
with something, remove the former then compress and spray again. It
    might work.

I think this is what they means by variable, the third connection being
made by inductive coupling to earth.
