Ah, ta. Well it is coming up to the end of the month and they probably
    need to fill their quotas.
Apparently the latter, because initially I thought it was a new fixed
radar not shown on the gov website. I rang up to check it out and the
helpful lass on the other side told me that it was a mobile unit.

I was probably day dreaming whilst listening to "The Police".

TBH, I'd been stuck in the traffic jams on the "La Francilienne" going
up to CDG, before taking the A1 towards Lille. The fact that all of a
sudden I had open road going north probably spurred me to put "pedal to
the metal" and do an outrageous 121kph.

Ironically, I'd thought about taking the bike that morning.

Ah, I don't pay attention to Des. But it may depend upon the
departments to see how vigilant they are. The fact you can pay on the
    'net may be useful though.

  3. Was there a tolerance subtracted? I recall being had for 61 in a 60
zone in .ch after they'd subtracted a 5 km/h tolerance.

    Well then you're an idiot.
At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious, the Ministry of Transport (as
well as the other Ministries involved (Interior, Treasury..)) are national.

Yup, that was with the tolerance. 5% over 100kph (included). So for
their calculations I was doing 114,95kph which they kindly rounded down.

    Otherwise it's 5kph margin under 100kph.
