    I have a buell X1 and i'm going to get a new bike a gsxr 750 i think.

I quite like the buell it good fun to ride but the finish is crap.

I phoned up a suzuki dealer and asked him what the buell would be worth in
part ex against a Gixer 750?
He was ok about it but he said that he wouldnt be prepared to give me a good
price for it as it a bad time to take bikes in and he would be a bit worried
about taking in such an odd bike in case he got stuck with it.

These are all fair points and i cant complain really

So i thought i would phone the buell dealer to see what sort of deal they
would do me on a new XB12R.
I thought they would give me a good part ex price with it being the dealer.

They refused to take it? said they cant shift them??

They where a bit shocked when i said if i cant sell the one i have i would
be a bit stupid to buy another one

Its a shame really because it is quite a fun bike
But i have never seen such a poor finish on a bike

Is it really? Tell the tale please.

Not that we are interested, simply that our inbuilt prejudices require
the odd fact here or there for support.

Turned up at the Motorcycle Museum a couple of years ago to find
the Buell Owner's Club were having a meet on the car park. At
least 100 bikes were there but can't say I noticed the poor
finish, perhaps a few of the exhausts looked a bit patchy.
Somehow I'd expected them to be a tad snotty but they really were
a bonza bunch of blokes and lassies having a right laugh. Quite
happy to answer all my dumb questions with relish. Was tempted to
buy a Buell just to join the club.

I met up with the owners club in the TT. They where disgusted at the state
    of my bike!
I think there is a picture of my bike knocking around there website
somewhere. But it doesn't look to bad there
Mine was new in 2001 and I managed to snap the belt drive last year. There
is a hugger on them as standard. I had to cut the hugger off because the
bolts had rusted solid when I replaced the belt. Things like that make me
say it has a poor finish. The powder coated frame had its fair share of
    rusty marks
Have I got a deal for you then ;o)

    <snip>

Like a lot of bikes, they last better if you don't ride them. Or, maybe
the people that were disgusted at the state of your bike only buy a bike
to sell it again, so they can upgrade, and sell that one.. and so on.

Petel's Buell gets used almost every day and has done for about 3 years
now. His bike is immaculate and fairly reliable, maybe he just knows how
    to look after it.
