    Oh FOAK

I have hit something quite hard in my GT. It's bent the wheel :(

Can it possibly be un-buckled, and if so can anyone recommend someone?

    TIA

  3. Depends on the amount of damage, but in theory yes.

In practice, I bought a new set of wheels.

I'm thinking that this may be what happens. Ebaying the other three will
get a chunk of my cash back. Certainly the difference (it looks like)
between buying one and buying a set.

    Clumsy ****.

Alloy wheels have a habit of cracking if you try to straighten them
so not a good idea unless you can find a specialist with the right kit.
ISTR it needs lots of contolled heat to get them to the correct
    temperature for safe bending.

The tyre sidewall is probably also fucked.

  6. A wheel refurber can often do this.

I had 2 straightened by A1 Wheels in Wolverhampton, but a google for
wheel refueb should do it if you're nowhere near. As soeone has said,
it's a specialist ting to avoid cracking them.

    In communiqué <yWI%m.21176$>, Chris
I was going to mention them, but having never used them can't recommend
them. It would, however, require the OP to venture in to the 5th worst
place in the world according to Lonely Planet.

Indeed, and since I have no spare, it's not going to happen. There
aren't any around here that have anything like the presence I'd like to
    trust.

Plus I'm finding it hard to believe I'm going to save enough to make the
    extra hassle worth while.

  9. Assuming you're going to buy identical wheels:

Ebay two of the three good ones as a good pair.
Put the damaged one up at £1 start, no reserve. If it sells, great, if
    not, junk it.

Keep the 3rd good one as a spare.

    Sensible idea, thanks
Except it (probably) won't match the others. If I can get just a single
one, then I probably will. Depends on the cost really.

  11. I did say 'assuming you're going to but identical wheels'.
Good luck with that. I suspect you'll find the amount of people looking
for a single wheel pushes the prices up quite a bit.

  12. A1 were excellent last time I used them, and as they've been there for
years, I assume they're still OK.

Wolves really isn't that bad at all. There's plenty worse.

  13. Damn *excellent* strategy. I'd never have thought of that.

Yeah, I wondered if that's what you meant.
Well, I was aiming for new, but yes, I suspect it may be poor value.

141 miles. That would be about £70 in fuel plus my time. Can't see it
    happening.

  17. Nah. Not worth it. Have you tried Ebay or a specialist Jap breaker for a
    single wheel?

Yes, there are none that I can see on ebay. Jap breaker? For an Alfa?

I would try breakers but they were all shut. Bastards ;)

    (The Older Gentleman) gurgled happily,
sounding much like they were saying:
Alternatively, accept that if you've twatted one, you'll twat another
one. Just buy a set of four, and keep three as spares for next time, the
time after, and the time after that...
