Dropped the bike this morning. Just as I was reversing the bike, one of
the courtyard doors blew shut at some speed. Couldn't keep the bike up
anymore and gently let it rest against the bike trailer.

Damage: small dent in the tank as far as I can see. What worries me
though, is that initially, setting off, the bike felt fine, but after a
few miles it started to run like a bag of spanners. It's lost all it's
punch and sounds like it's running waaay too rich. A quick inspection
didn't turn up any major damage. It does run, idle is at about 1000
revs, so all should be fine...no? No!

    Any ideas?

Dunno what bike or carb, but could the choke lever or actuator have been
bent and caused it to stay open/closed?

It's a Firestorm amd probably not. I dropped the bike on the righthand
side and the lever is on the left. It may just be that some crud got
released or something got flooded, but the latter doesn't seem logical
as rode it for a few miles...

Here's hoping that the problem will have gone away this afternoon....

These problems don't go away. They sometimes hide, then come back and
    bite you.

It may be completely unrelated to the falling over. Water in the fuel
or, as you say, a bit of crud restricting the float needle.

Possibly carb icing. I had great fun riding the ER to work this morning.
Carbs iced up, giving me a single cylinder 8 stroke if the sound was
    anything to go by.

Nowt to worry about if when the temperature drops below 0c or gets above
    5c[1] the problem goes away.

[1] Seems to be the temp range that causes it on the ER and GTRat when much
    precipitation abounds.

It would be, wouldn't it? If he's in Switzerland, I'd say that may be
    average for certain places...

Swizzerland, but it's been around 0 to -2 for the last couple of days
and I felt the drop, deeply!
There's one place here that is always about 15° colder than the rest of the
    country in winter.
    -30° is apparently common!
La Brévine - if anyone's interested.

There's a chance that I may be going to live in Zurich, maybe. It's more
likely that I'll be living in Brighton and going to Uni though.

    Welcome!
There are some lovely rides[1] around here.
    And of course other things.
    What influences the decision?

    [1] for bikes, as well
