  1. What's the dog's danglies of heated grips these days?

The old fingers were distinctly nippy this morning.

Ditto - beautiful morning but distinctly winter-like.

If you don't want a permanent installation:
    http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/heated-motorcycle-grips/

Oxford also has replacement heated grips that worked for me when I was
working in central Spain (rather cold, far from the Mediterranean)

we got some oxford over grip thingies which certainly got warm but
there's no variable heat, just on and off. they were only £35 ish and
the advantage is that you can put them on several bikes easily.

need to work where in the garage they got put and fit them to the 9R
(OI ANDY, JOB FOR TOMORROW WHILE I'M AT FOOTBALL). dja think he'll get
    that....?
I thought that might be the case yesterday so solved the problem by
going in later and even better today, staying in bed and working from
    home.

I had them on the ZZR. Only snag was that they made the grips quite big.
I'm not used to grasping anything with a large circumference.
    You never know.
    Good call.

    they're the jobbies.
do you know where we could get more wiring & switch then we could
leave that on the bike (plugs into an optimate plug) and swap the
    grips?

a little nippy on the walk over from Liverpool St. but fortunately I
had on my trusty covert coat.

Well, indeed. Just read an article about them. Heated grips, measured heat
at fingernail: 12 C (ambient .5 degrees), gloves, measured heat at
    fingernail: 22 C (ambient .5 degrees).
Heated grips cost about 90 euros overhere, heated gloves between 119 and
159, heated vest: 119. I see a small dent in my bank account :)

Gower my ass, WUN should know that I am the FOAK when it comes to being a
big girls blouse in the cold.

Heated grips work pretty well behind a large fairing but honestly the Oxford
types are shit compared to BMW. Sir wants a pair of these:
    www.gerbing.eu/index.pl/gloves
Blondie and I both have the Classics and they are just excellent. I shall be
having a new set at NEC this year, they have lasted 2 seasons but like any
leather glove have a finite lifespan. Properly waterproof too.
Best £119 I've spent though one wants the heat controller.

You can afford it, get the long sleeved waistcoat. Last winter I was out
riding for fun on days that would have Bonners staying in with a cup of
cocoa. It's a very slight faff plugging the gloves into the waiscoat but
it's an extra minute you wont mind once on the move.

I have the controller attached to the tank cover and just plug in when
    seated.

As you are also diabetic you can expect circulation to hands and feet to
    suffer a little over time.

Hmm... I'm mildly concerned about the faff of connecting /
    disconnecting.
I really don't need it, it's only my hands that get any problems at all.
    Aye. I'm planning ahead.

NEC is 23rd of next month. Wait and try it out, they usually have a stand?
There is another make called Klan who also have a stand.

    This is interesting too:
    www.heated-motorcycle-clothing.co.uk/gloves.html

The heated grip thing is about the wires to the twistgrip, they are
constantly being moved so are prone to breaking. The left side is easy. The
quality of the Oxford rubber is poor too, no surprise. These look as if they
    might be better though:

You need a series/parallel switch, commonly supplied with other grips. A
bit of digging around will find one.
There's always the fit-it-inside option, from Warmfit.
