  1. Just a dusting, in SW London. Roads look horrible, mind.

Rain earlier here, the sun is now shining nicely.
    Time for a quiet bimble.

I can see the headlines now.

"Britain caught in big freeze, people struggle to use the roads!"

    <looks out of window>
Oh, hang on, thats just the south then.

We had a fairly steady snowfall today but it hasn't really settled and
turned to rain anyway. I'm *so* glad I had a burst of enthusiasm and
    did the car's diffs yesterday.

Not down here. I was out riding at 9 and got completely soaked.
Excepting the five minutes when it turned to hail, not a "big freeze"
    in sight.

I did have to drive home sitting on newspapers though.

    From news.bbc.co.uk:

"In Greater Manchester, the M62 was temporarily closed eastbound between
junctions 21 and 22 because of ice.

Several roads remain closed in central Scotland and Grampian after snow
on Saturday led to treacherous conditions on higher ground.

The A93 between Spittal of Glenshee and Braemar and sections of the A939
    are shut."

I wonder if it will lie long enough to be worth them starting the ski
    lifts up.

I doubt there's been a long enough spell of freezing weather to get
the ground cold enough. Still, we're off to Cervinia in 3 weeks so
expect good Scottish skiing around then!

There's summer skiing at Cervinia IIRC from calling in on the way back
from a northern Italy jaunt, so even exceptionally good Scottish skiing
    conditions would hardly compare.

We will be checking the webcams and reports for the Espace Sancy when we
are over for the new year in hopes of quick dash over there (2 hours or
    so).

I must admit to not fancying our drive up to Ratho in two weeks time
much if it is like this.

Skiing has already been possible on Ben Nevis this year but I don't
know when the ski lifts are planned to open.

Probably due to lack of grit/salt... the buggers must have dumped
Greater Manchester's supply for the next 5 years in Leigh, last night.
There was so much of the stuff on the roads, you couldn't see the road
markings and cars were skidding round bends.

    WTF?

Empty the truck and off home sharpish, rather than spend half the night
driving round with it dribbling off the back.
