  3. Ungrateful ****.

I had a mild frisson of excitement last week when I discovered my
exchange was BB enabled. Turned out to be a load of crap.
    The cunts.

It took me 18 months of campaigning to get our exchange enabled. BT
convert the exchanges with campaigns first because the take up is
higher. However, unnoffical figures suggest that exchanges with less
than 100 lines will never be economic to upgrade.

I thought BT were now going to BB-enable pretty much every exchange in the
country, though - can't have long to wait, surely. Also, they're abandoning
their loop length limits now, and will be using a "best efforts" approach to
getting people online. It'll only be 512k, natch ...

  8. Would that that were the case here. 512k would be nirvana compared to
single channel isdn. I'm in Ireland, btw, although BT have an influence,
having bought out one of the telcos here and are lending weight to the
push for LLU in Irish exchanges.

  9. It's pretty much the same here; I'll have to get a hundred sigs on a
declaration of interest before Eircom sit up and take notice. My
exchange isn't on the remote future list to be upgraded, in fact it's
not on any list at all.

Otoh, BB has come to a small town just 4 miles away and opens up the
possibility of sharing a connection wirelessly.
