Right, I've had about as much as I can stand with Blueyonder shite. Someone
recommend me an alternative for the love of god.

You may need a thicker rope depending on speed requirements.

NTL have just upped their 600K service to 750K with no price increase.
    First 2 months free.

Granted, they are northern shite, but you get 8 static IP-addresses if you
should wish for free, and in the couple of years we've had them, we've been
out for a couple of days max.

NTL - been with them for at least 6 years [1] and I'm happy. Crap customer
support though, but as I've never been down, I've never needed it.

    Cheap as chips as well.

[1] through their various takeovers, Nynex, C&W, etc

I thought it was ok. But then a few outages had some techs over. They
explained that the signal was so low I was sometimes getting no service.
Numerous visits later, and seemingly hours spent listening to their phone
menu system, have put me overboard. I am now looking at alternatives and
trying to find someone I can complain to and getting compensated for the
months of poor service I've had and the number of days I've taken off work
    to greet their retarded employees.

Is their some kind of isp ombudsman I can stress to?

Yeah I had Pipex before Blueyonder. Apart from that shitty rebooting the box
thing every now and again it was fine. I may just go back to them.

  14. Assuming you want cable, then I don't know.

ADSL on Pipex has served me well for a year. Last time I looked, you get
    free setup and modem, too.

Strange, I have *no* problems what so ever, I have been using it for about
4 years now and have probably had no more than 5 outages in that time.

What problems have you been having ?

  17. Reboot the box? You mean the modem? Sorry to sound like a know nothing
****, but I leave this machine on 24/7 with no obvious problems; that's
    why I asked.

Pipex have been boringly reliable for me since I had it installed a few
months ago. The email works reliably too, which is more than I can say about
    Blueyonder..

Free setup/modem and all that gubbins on the Pikeyband Solo 250 package with
no download limits. £17.99 a month.
