Brisbane Speedway

Went to the speedway last night. Played with two R1's on the motorway on the
way there (Northbound) and seen a nice red ZX12R when i was there. Don't
suppose either was anyone on the NG?

 

was the racing any good , I have not been for years , jawa used to rule
and some kiwi bloke was the world champ . major ?

Spelt "Mauger" but pronounced "Major", yes.
I went once about 1977 when two mates were racing a Kawasaki mach iv
sidecar. (The engine shit itself on the first lap so they were saved too
much embarrassment).
I thought it had all shut down decades ago.

These were cars. No bikes (
But i should be headed to Gosford on 31st for a few hot laps on a mates
speedway sidecar...its been 2.5 years since i last raced a sidecar.... But
yeah, the racing was ok. As good as it can get with sprinters, supers and
stocks. But i was mainly there to pit for a mate up from newcastle.

 

I raced a 250 microsprint for 3 seasons up at Toowoomba. It had a water
cooled YZ250 2stroke engine, and had a top speed of about 90kph. It was good
fun at the time. My family had a team of 3 cars. Some of my greatest duels
on the track were with my mum, who was a demon behind the wheel.

We stopped racing in 2001, it just got too expensive. Its worse now with all
the insurance costs. A 2stroke bike wouldn't suit the riding I do now, but
when I hear one it always sounds good and racey to me. Ymmv.

Just to clarify this was Acherfield raceway... I consider it all to be
brisbane....
