Break the monotony

Coming in this morning I found a great way to break the monotony of
do-or-die filtering down the Bristol road into Gloucester. I had the
pleasant experience of adding a spot of in-lane-slalom to the mix. For
novelty value, the traffic on the road was moving at a steady 20mph, and I
was following behind a pick-up truck waiting for a chance to filter again.

After a few seconds following said truck a crate blew off the back of the
truck, hitting the road just in front of me. With no room to move right, I
swerved to the left, to be greated by another crate falling. Now I
appreciate how potentially dangerous the situation could have been, but it
was actually quite entertaining, like some kind of computer game. Twisties
added to an otherwise straight road.

Needless to say I gave the occupant of the truck an ear bashing at the next
set of lights. I doubt I would feel that it was fun should one of those
crates actually have hit me, but as it stood, it was. Odd, but there you
    go.

Mum's boyfriend never realised there was that bit of a bypass opposite
frazers around to the docks. I said "don't go all the way down past the
cinema, the traffic will be crap - go the hempsted route." To which he
    replied "That's naughty, it's a residential area."

I don't think he'd been down that way since they'd put that nice new road
    in.

That's a posh term for "new housing estate".
Getting through the single lane bit at the bridge can be a bit of a
    procedure, though.

Absolutely, and coming out of Gloucester that way during rush hour is almost
    impossible.

Yeah, not my favourite bit. I'd use practically any other route if
    possible.

Oh well, just think in a few years, had you needed to take that route -
the Over to Quedgely bypass will be in place.
