It just sounded a bit flakey.

Nah, but it would have kept vital funds a wafer more important things!

    Think of the Children, Ben.

Bizarrely I can think of a few roads round here were 150mph is potentially
    achievable without endangering many people.

    I guess I'm also a wanker.

Where's Sir.Tony when we need him.

That would have caused some ripple no doubt.

  6. My driving instructor went to some lengths to ensure that I learned not to
break his engine, or indeed any other part of his car...

It also says that the maximum braking on a modern motorbike in ideal
conditions is 0.77g, which is not as good as many perfectly normal cars
of the 1960s and 70s, and not much better than a pushbike (0.7g).

  8. Sounds like they might well, doesn't it?

Certainly more than cagers - after all, there are no TV adverts advising
cagers to drive defensively to protect themselves against motorcyclists who
    aren't looking.

And when the engine breaks, presumably you come to a stop in a reasonably
short distance? An interesting technique for sure.

It's faster with electric windows as they make it easier to apply the
large hammer to the bonnet. With performance sports cars it's even
easier since the engine is often behind the driver. Competent drivers
can break the engine without even looking to see where to put the
    spanner.

No point; motorcyclists who don't look where they're going are a
    self-correcting problem.

And more relevantly perhaps, what are the death rates per 1000 hours

And then there are those who look but continue to approach well in
excess of the speed limit, then put on a big show of 'oh look car driver
pulled out in front of me I'll carry on at this speed then nosedive the
front of the bike at the last minute for dramatic effect, then place all
blame on their lack of use of mirrors' - despite car having pulled out
when PLENTY of room, AND having used mirrors (before pulling out!), AND
being aware bike approaching but having judged even at the 70mph+ speed
there is sufficient room for said biker to not suddenly be faced with
    boot of car...

I'm a considerate driver who really does my best to understand the more
vulnerable road-users needs, but quite honestly, that sort of thing
really made me wonder why I bother moving over when I see a motorbike
approaching to give it more room as it dives between two lanes of
    traffic (etc etc).

    *sigh*

  18. Obviously to save you having your door panels kicked in and your wing
    mirror smashed - why else?
