Model 1982, my front brake slowly but steadily seems to be applying
itself. In the space of 2/3 miles the operating lever requires less and
less movement to apply the pads. Bleeding relieves the pressure, but why
does it happen and how can I fix it?

    TIA

Assuming you are talking about the Beemer? also assuming you have the pivot
well greased and there is no binding on the pivit or pistons? sounds like a
vapor lock or water contamination. Flush the system right through with a
    good 250-500ml of fresh fluid.

If your using standard rubber brake hoses, look for any bulges or swellings
(feedlines'R'us), as you may have partial collapse of the inner wall of the
pipe. Had this on a RangeRover recently.

All fluids less than 6 months old. I'll try for the vapour lock and
bleed them again. I have been running it OK for those 6 months, and now
    this .... damn!

Er yes and check the tubes as JB suggested. Stainless lines are a good
investment on old Beemers anyway. Just make sure you haven't overfilled the
    reservoir either.

Remember there needs to be an air gap above the rubber bellows in the
reservoir. I've overfilled one just to see what hapened and sure enough the
brake starts to bind on. 3/4 way up between +/- is my usual.

Have bled the buggers, and they still appear to want to bind. Off now to
check prices of braided hoses. I guess that will be 3 of them (asking
    really).

    Two?

    Mine's a single disk:

    (1) Bars to manifold
(manifold to outside of fairing is a pipe)
    (2) Fairing to back of fork leg
(crossover to other fork is a pipe)

Twin disk ought only to have a different crossover pipe, surely?
