Brake pad price

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Feb 1, 2005.

  1. Attacked the front calipers of the Trophy at the weekend, prompted by
the visible corrosion and winter crud, and spent a happy hour or so
cleaning the pistons and doing the usual.

The pads were fairly worn, so today I popped into Carl Rosner for a new
lot, on the way to work.

'Kin 'ell. Thirty quid a side. Sixty quid for feckin' disc pads.

Next time It's the EBC catalogue and the local parts merchant.

The Older Gentleman was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Pan Euro front pads are even more expensive if you buy them at the
local emporium instead at Dave Silver's.
I dunno, I'm not that keen on EBC stuff since the Pan's had an EBC
    rear disk fitted...

I paid that for pads on the CBR Thou in Pau, must be at least eight
    years ago.

M&P are looking for around 16 a side, iirc.

I found that parts for the Trumpet seem to be way higher than other
manufacturers. Certainly higher than the parts for the Hog Not that I've
needed many!), 'cept any chrome additions mind.
Service items generally seem a little cheaper than most.

Genuine Brembo pads for the 4 pots I've got on the Guzzi are ~£23 per
side. EBC are £14 but they're shit and only last half the time.

    It's Brembos next time.

I'm almost certain the front calipers on a Pan Euro are the same as on
the older 600 Bandit, which was IIRC quite cheap to re-pad. SWK will be
along in a minute or three to tell me I'm talking bollocks again.

    DR says...
No you're not. The pads are indeed the same for the early Bandit 600 and
the early Pan Euro, wouldn't say the calipers are the same though. Pads
for the later ABS Pans are different.

On a nice high grip surface it is all together too easy get the back
wheel light but there is a world of difference between that and stopping
a pan euro with it's stereotypically fully load fat **** and
    accessories.
