Brake pad glazing

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Torgeir Haukenes, Feb 5, 2004.

  1. What`s the cause of this annoying thing?

I`ve tried various pads, I`ve stripped the calipers, new fluid etc,
but the glazing reoccurs after a while.

    Anyone that k n o w s ?

Sometimes it's using the brakes too lightly for too long.

  4. Been through all that, repeatedly, but thanks anyway. I also like to
brake hard, but to little avail, the pads still glaze.

Is there any kind of pad material that`s resistant to glazing? I think
OEM pads works best, but best is not good.

    ....and it`s not .DE-land, it`s .NO-land. I live in Norway, but I post
    through cis.dfn.de

  6. lest I forget... I use EBC pro-lite rotors now, any experience with
them? The same brand HH sintered pads glaze on them, as does the
Ferodo ones and the OEM (organic?)pads.

Is SBS any better, or will I have to live with the sanding tedium?

I`m also about to change disks as they`re worn close to their service
limit - is PFM supersport upgrade disks worth the extra money?
