If you wanted better braking out of a bike and can't afford a new
fancy brembo or whatever to fit the bike (seems bugger is made for
mine :( ) would it be possible to take the caliper to a machine shop
and get them to machine it out so you put in bigger pistons?

Anything is possible ... but I am certain it would cost more than going
to the wreckers and geting secondhand items there.

    Any relation to James Mayfield?

no really...it would be easier to get some 4 piston or such calipers from a
wrecker and make adaptor plates...most likely need the master cyl to match

And when you reply, give all your info to James so he can work out what to
    do with the ZX10 :)

Hey, speaking of which, any recommendations for 4-pot calipers
to fit 21" spoke wheels :)

No, bet seriously trying to find a better performing caliper
that can bolton to a CBR1000 in bloody impossible. There are very few
wreckers here. We must crash bikes less often over here in the West.

300mm if I'm not mistaken. (Often am)
Twin Piston Nissins. They year before they went for the DCBS. Not
sure if I'm lucky or unlucky on that one. :)
Had em, but some nast c*nt cut em with some side cutters or something
when I parked it at the movies. Luckily I noticed the brake fluid
    puddle before I took off.

If you use adapter plates won't you get too much flex?

If get a Master Cylinder with a bigger bore will it necessarily brake
    better or just lockup quicker?

well if you are going to fit new calipers you will probably need to use the
    correct m/cyl

flex?...no not if they are designed and made correctly

Are they the same calipers used on other bikes of the same vintage?
might be worth having a rmmage at your local wreckers.
