    Ok...

SR125 - been stood standing for a couple of years.

    Now it runs - but wont tickover - it's a mate's lad's bike and I've ben
on the blower berating him for his cack-handed spannering skills, but
he's actually done everything I would have done and it's still the same.

He's drained the fuel tank and refilled with fresh. Had the carb off
and cleaned it thoroughly - I've not seen it but he tells me there is
no clag left in there - and he's actually an OK mechanic.

He's changed the plug and plag cap - he's checked the timing and valve
gaps. He's tried thrashing it round the block a few times.

    Any thoughts?

Simes scribbled on the back of a napkin:
What did he use to clean the carb? If it was well gummed up then you
can bet your backside that the nasty chemical cleaners didn't clear out
some small air or fuel passage only needed at idle.

Get it ultrasonically cleaned, see if that makes a difference,
otherwise get him to buy a CG125.

Perhaps when he's got it mended, as a reward?

    Not at the minute thanks.

Nope not that - The slide has to be lifted further than the idle screw
will go just to keep it running. It's as if the pilot jet is blocked,
    but it's not.

Has he really nipped up the nuts which attach the carb to the head. I had a
similar problem with the TS50, and found that overtightening the two nuts
caused the carb body to distort, and wouldn't let the widget inside slide up
    and down as it should.

That's ok, I'm gonna empty my sack when I'm in the bath later...
Well, apart from another dim suggestion of a blocked air filter I'm all
    out of ideas.

My MZ125 manual suggests a 'bristle from Mother's broom' to clean the carb.
