Yup. I stand on my own merits. I don't try and "invent" myself to be
something I'm not. I don't do "name dropping" to have people ooh over
me. I have a small company doing "Networking, Telco and Computer
Administration". I pay my bills with the company and work hard at it.
The webpage was built when I was working at Allegiance Telecom as an
engineer. It runs on a server that is mine, and not someone else's
that I pay to host it or a "free service" popping up ads to everyone
who tries to go there. I also don't make my living from that webpage.
I would consider a "re-do", but it's not even close to being on my
priorities.

Colonial Networks wasn't even a "real company" until March 2003 when I
got my DBA on it. Before that, it was just the name of my network. It
started out in '95 as just a couple computers connected peer to peer.
When I stuck in my first router and started handling my own full
service server, I called it "Shadow Rider Network". In 2000 (late in
2000) it became Colonial Networks when I started taking dial-up and
bonded connections. And it grew from there. I don't owe anyone
anything for this company. It's mine and I don't have to worry about
not being able to pay the rent or a loan and have to close the
business down...every month. I also don't have to sell off anything to
the people here in this group to make the light bill.

If you don't like what I do, too bad. I'm not looking at you hiring me
anyway. I'm not trying to get anyone here to hire me. I'm not "warming
up" to anyone trying to get a fat son-in-law hired.

So what's your point with getting all this chatter started in this
direction?

and calling me on the phone trying to find some way to go to work and

It turns out that the server she "owns" was a cobalt from The Planet
and sitting in Pennsylvania. When I called The Planet and asked about
her account status, they wanted a whole bunch of information on her
and where the server was. I told her that I wouldn't do anything to
the server until she verified her ownership and paid up front for the
first work done and until we could determine her ability and
willingness to pay. Suddenly she decided she didn't want to do
anything with me.

Yeah, I knew how to do what she wanted...but with her stiffing the
admin she had and having a cobalt which was from The Planet sitting in
Pennsylvania, I wasn't going to do business with her on a word from
you.

Speaking of you not owning your server, what was all that laughing you
were doing about my webpage? I own my server. I own the routers. I own
the circuit. I own the racks. I own the pm's. I own my business. What
happened to your business and where is it?

And funny thing, but that was the very configuration that you and your
friend (owner of the server) wanted done. She also wanted "more
security" on the server to prevent anyone from seeing anything about
it.

Now, you didn't do that configuration...I have to wonder who you paid

I don't know about "Gucci" helmet, but it's a helmet.

I have a helmet that matches my bike and my jacket. A jacket that
matches my bike and my gloves. Gloves that match my shoes. Shoes that
match my bike and my bike matches my helmet.

An hour to get ready to ride? Well, I have to wipe off the bike, then
the helmet. Then I have to lace my shoes until they're comfortable. I
have to put in songs into my mp3 player. Wire up my player into my
jacket and helmet. Then I always get my head rag on just right and
then carefully put the helmet on to not disrupt the headset until it's
on. Once the helmet is on, then everything will stand up to the
riding...assuming nothing was jerked apart while putting the helmet
on.

Okay, to make it a short story...yes, it's true that I have a nice
helmet and it takes an hour for me to get ready to ride. Mostly
because I enjoy pissing people off that are waiting on me and if they
leave me, then I'll enjoy the ride to catch up with them.
