He's fallen in love with this:

    http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/26816/stock.htm

It's overpriced and bloody orange FFS, but the engine sounds very sweet.

It's way more than he was looking to spend, and is (IMHO) about £400
    overpriced.

Ho bloody hum, we'll see what develops.

    Custom paintjob, eh?

Better HPI check it then, and check it over *very* carefully.

Quite nicely done akkshirley, sort of metallic.

Unfortunately the plastics are made of the same crappy brittle stuff
the NSR plastics were made of.

Go large on superglue and araldite, you heard it here first.

  11. "Custom Paint Job" is sometimes code for "this isn't the bike it once
was, someone is looking for it, but to you, mistah, for cash, plenty
    bargain".

  12. The 400, priced at £1900, and resprayed in horrible orange? He's off his
    fucking trolley.

For a start, if it's 1995 it won't be on an L plate, and vice versa.

Secondly, it's at least £400 overpriced.

Thirdly, the orange paint may hide some nasties and will certainly make
it more difficult to sell on. The moment you ding a panel, you can't
exactly source another one from Ebay, can you?

    Dan L says...
Way overpriced. I know where there's a fairly tidy 1990 NC30 going for
about 1200 quid in Telefonica Movistar paintwork.

Woo hoo, I got it about right.
Good point, well made. I am *certain* he'll take it on board

There may be a perfectly innocent explanation for the paint job (ie,
the owner has a major orange fetish) but it could also be crashed,
    ex-race or both.

    Nope, it's not a custom paint job - it's a straightforward respray :).
Custom is when the bike suddenly turns a horrible combination of orange
and lime green that only the original painter can match. Usually badly.

Won't he have to have it restricted for a while if he buys that one?

I think it's seriously overpriced but if it's what he wants then it's
his choice and you just need to let him go for it.

Pretty much my whole take on the matter.
He's an adult (well, he's 20 tomorrow), so it's his shout.

    I can but advise.
