The only reference I can find is to a five year sentence. Mined Jew,
that was for a Muslim, and the sentences for Muslims tend (I believe) to
    be harsher.

Oddly, a non-Muslim male may legally import alcohol into Dubai, but no
    one else can.

  4. Ah; she was caught in possession of a bit of grass? Whatever the rights
and wrongs of dope smoking (I'm in favour of it, btw - let everybody who
wants to smoke themselves silly), the fact of being in possession of it
in a country that's known to be repressive as **** is totally, utterly
    stupid.

If she was into a toke, why the **** was she in Indonesia in the first
    place?

Seems an odd choice of country to me. IMHO there are far worse
countries doing far worse things, which are therefore far more worthy
    of a boycott.

Are you going to send out another email on behalf of e.g. people held in
Guantanamo Bay or shipped off to other countries for gentle persuasion
    against the USA ?

Or the oil magnate in Russia, who it's also considered by many to have
been framed who's facing a long prison sentence ?

Blame the western governments who put pressure on countries such as
Indonesia to be hard on drug trafficking

As to whether she's guilty or innocent, I don't have any information on
which to base an opinion - except that she's white and western and not
some foreign bastard so she must be OK

The last two who were caught were hung, and pictures of their corpses
on then end of a rope were on the front page of the paper.

Executions are private, here, with the body going on display
afterwards. Drug smuggling is so heinous, apparently, that the entire
    event is public.

Several airport baggage handlers have been sacked for being caught
sticking stuff into, and taking stuff out of luggage in the last couple
of months, including the amusing incident of the camel suit(1).

I can see why there's an argument for reasonable doubt, dunno if it's
valid, but I can see why some think there is doubt.

    JL
1.Guy checks his baggage in, one case holds a camel suit, is sitting in
the gate lounge about to board his plane and sees a baggage handler
loading the plane dressed in the top half of the camel suit, and baggage
handlers mates pissing themselves laughing, as you do. He wasn't happy.

And the more interesting question is why would you send coals to
newcastle ? Price of dope in Bali is a less thna a 10th of the price of
    dope in Oz

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the price and
purity of herbal cannabis and cannabis resin as detailed in their 2004
    World
    Drug Report < http://tinyurl.com/b574t > states the following;

    Herbal Cannabis Retail Wholesale
Australia $19.2 USD per gram $6550 per kilogram
Indonesia $1.1 USD per gram $ 100 per kilogram

    Cannabis Resin Retail Wholesale
Australia $24.3 USD per gram $6550 per kilogram
Indonesia $1.7 USD per gram $1660 per kilogram

You're a bit behind the times, I'm afraid. Both usages are accepted in
    Modern English.

I gave that some thought at the time and decided it was a corruption of

They are acceptable in the correct context.

I'm a bit peeved about Jim Morrison's lyrics:
#Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I.

It wouldn't have taken much effort to be grammatically correct.
He could have written 'fall in the sea for you and me'.
