    1) Lovely day, far too hot to go slowly.

    2) Whinging Courier has modified my B6's exhaust. It now makes very
loud and rude sounds. Just as nature intended.

    3) I need someone to direct me to a place where I may purchase two
stickers to add to the rear of the bandit. The rear sticker label
things currently read "Bandit 600n" and I need both of them to read
"RS Bandit 600n" so that I can fulfil my promises. I need two sticky
    RS's

    4) SeanH's brand new GSF650 is very pretty and very black.

    5) Whinging Courier's Rat Blade has done a wee of epic proportions and
will be recovered to Whinging Central by Carole Nash later in the day.

5a) As he's not riding back he can get pissed out of his face.

He's going to some lengths to get it really ratty, but it's cheating if
he gets someone else to do it for him.

Ooooh. It does sound lovely now. It might be a bit too loud for
inter-neighbour bonding so I might put just the removable baffle back
in but I lost the screw. Well, Mr. Courier put it back again but it
parted company with the exhaust somewhere on the Military Road.
Water. He suspects either the head gasket has gone (evidently it's
been on the way out for a while) or it's leaking from the water pump.

If you look at it in the daylight the water pump has been the least of
its problems for a loooong time.

Your road position's getting better, btw.

You're still bloody slow though ;-)
I understand it goes better, too.
I've just got back literally in the last minute.
    Which I did.

    I'm sober(ish) now though

The head gasket's been leaking for about two years but this leak saw the
entire contents discharge itself in less than a couple of minutes.

There's water pissing out of what looks like the water pump housing.

    I'm hoping it's just a gasket that's gone.

We shall wait and see. Thing is, I can never understand how if a water
pump goes, you get water pissing out of the housing since the pump
    itself is internal.

Still, that's how it went on my Ford Escort when I had it and this looks
the same. If it works, I'll save the head gasket for another time as I
suspect that'll be an engine-out job.

    No shame about it.

    Piece of piss.

What seems to have happened is a seal has gone between the oilway behind
the water pump, I know cos it pissed oil after returning the bike to the
centre stand after removing the WP and the WP itself because there's a
    hole in the middle underneath.

I've had a look at the BOL to see about changing the seals but as I
suspected, it's a sealed until so rain (as it were) has stopped play for
    today.

I just hope I remember[1]... right, now I hopefully will remember not to
go out on it tomorrow morning, I also hope to remember to fill the thing
with oil as it leaked about 1/2 a litre before I could get it in and up
    on the centre stand again.[2]

I wonder how much a WP is for one of those? If it was a Ford Escort,
    it'd be about 12 quid...

[1] <gets up and writes not to self *now*>
[2] Don't you hate stories about what people have done? I find them so
    fucking boring, mostly.

I'm expecting it to be about 40 and even that's too much, imo.

Anyway, it's not the sort of thing you can do without so they've got me
by the short and curlies, really.

The other alternative is a breaker but then how long will that one last?
At least with seals you know the newer they are, the more likely they
    are to be good.

Well the BMW K combined water and oil pump's about 100 quid IIRC so
hopefully it's closer to your figure than mine.

Anyway, there's this on ebay, not sure if it helps:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CBR1000-Water...27QQihZ019QQcategoryZ9946QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Well, if it costs more than about 30 quid I'd question whether the bikes
worth it; I've seen the photos remember.

From what I can tell, it isn't a combined oil/water pump but it does
look like the WP is driven from the OP shaft.
Good lord, what a fucking state!

The bloke has misdescribed his item; that's the thermostat housing!

Thanks for looking though, I couldn't find anything at all. Even online
breakers are short on this part.

Much against my principles, it looks like I may be paying Chiswick Honda
    a visit tomorrow.
    Very funny.

The bike's worth it to me.

So. How much Gaffer Tape does 100 quid buy these dyas?

OK. Just wipe up after yourself please.

    And then some.

157 quid and it's gonna take 3 weeks.

I am very unhappy, I'll have lost the will to do it/live by the time it
    arrives.

Not one fucking breaker I phoned had one although someone suggested an
old style mini WP was exactly the same. I've either done the right thing
by ignoring it, thinking it was one of those "get me a long weight"
witty things or I've just pissed over a hundred quid and 21 days up the
    wall.

Stick an ad in one of the contact mags and bend over then. All your
    Christmas's will come at once.
    I like new bikes.
    So no changes there then.
