It was exactly 7:10 AM when I slipped into something more
    comfortable...my brand spanking new Roadcrafter.
I rolled the R1100RS out of the garage, packed my lunch bag into the
Givi, threw a leg over and fired the old girl up with her brand
    spanking new Odyssey Extreme battery.
Minutes later I was thundering along the Great Highway towards Skyline
Drive and my day at work in San Bruno.
Aside from a little rustiness managing the rs throttle and some minor
discomfort in my right hand and wrist, it was amazingly similar to the
many days I have commuted over the years. I will admit I am not quite
as assertive as I have been before, but it will all come back once I
encounter enough cell phone yakking morons.
I made the ride home after work over the hill (Skyline to Great
Highway) again, opting to forego the late afternoon madness and
f*ckingwankerdrivers on 280. It's pleasant ride with enough scenery and
relatively free of the typical eejits we usually encounter.

And hey, I rode to work for the first time in 6 months! Nice, really
    nice.

That Ride to Marin for Bakery Stuff is in sight.
    Maybe the next dry Saturday?
I'll be posting an announcement for anyone wanting to come along.

dudes! wait for me, in another 6 weeks i ought to hopefully be motocycle
    ready for a real ride.

i have to admit to having ridden the motorcycle around a few blocks in my
new cast, which lets me use thumb, index and middle fingers, today. there
was hardly any traffic, so it was a worthwhile experiment and good PT. :) i
am getting a more mobile splint in another 2 weeks. and i have kept going to
the gym, albeit foregoing biceps curls, during my hand drama ordeal. i hpe
    that'll moderately expedite things.

i *will* have suffered permanent damage, though, quite possibly. grip
strength and mobility may be compromised, and i am shoe-in bet for cmc
arthritis in 5-10 years due to traumatic damage to the base of the
metacarpal and hamate. well, we live to *try* to prove doctors wrong! :)

i am hearing that honda ad theme song "i wanna ride i wanna ride i wanna
ride!" - i miss it! forget what i said about having occasional second
    thoughts.

  8. Jim, if you're going to be there on Saturday, stop by the AFM booth and
say hi! I'll be helping staff it from 9:30 - 2:30.
