This is not a DFV but is anyone heading out, Harlow way?

/me needs to put some miles on the bike as I'm heading to my IAM
pre-test, so *I'm* going for an 'assertive' bimble somewhere.....

Why am I going for my pre-test? Cos that's what happens.

Why am I doing the IAM? Because it seemed like a good idea at the time.
    And it has been.

I have no idea about the 'group'. I've only spent any time with by
    designated observer.

He's not at all cavalier about speed limits, when he's observing, but
it's pretty clear that under normal circumstances he takes them under
    advisement.

OTOH he can ride the shit out of me without ever breaking either the
limit or sweat, so why should I GAF if I'm 'allowed' to break it?

FWIW I was analysing my riding today, and without doubt I am smoother,
quicker, safer and generally better than I ever have been.

I don't do groups in any situations very well. I really doubt that I'll
have much in common with most of them. I want to pass the test.
So not much learning / teaching going on? Or am I mistaken?
Ahh, these are all new habits :)
Hmm. Suddenly it seems a lot more appealing :)

Ahh well, different strokes and all that. I like the personal attention,
plus I get to book observed rides to suit me.

But surely riding within the speed limit is so mind-numbingly easy -
how can one person possibly do it better than another?

You can ride up to the limit all the time? I take my lid off to you.

    WTF?
I don't think I ride to the limit on any road, ever. Does anyone on
    something over 250cc?

I think he means that if you can take every bend at 60 on an NSL, you
must be a riding god. He has a point.

    Ah, I see.

Yes, I suppose most NSL roads have corners that I take at less than
    60. Not many tho, and not much less than 60.

Hold on. IIRC it wasn't long ago there was a discussion which talked
about finding stretches of 'B' road where it would be possible to
average 60. If there aren't many corners that need to be taken at less
than 60, it must be easy to average 60, no?

On most A roads, I agree. But in towns and congestion, there is much I
    have learned.
