aren't you allowed to run auxilliary tanks? If so, stick one in the
    seat unit...

So it looks like you'll be sticking with 1-hour sessions then.

OK, it's like this. You and Daz could run 80 minutes. Champ can't.

Sorry, an' all that, but that's the way it is.

Unfortunately, it does. It's a pity, because if we could run 1 hour
20 min sessions, then we'd only do 3 stops every four hours (saving 6
stops over the whole race), and (probably more importantly) give each
rider a good 30 minutes extra rest time between sessions.

OK, here's what we'll do. We'll rig up the BlingMobile as a flying
tanker. I'll pilot it, with Wik sat on the back seat. As the rider comes
along the Revett Straight, we'll need him to back off a bit, so he can
catch the hose that Wik'll chuck to him.

He then hooks that up to a specially made fitting on the tank, and I
fire up the pumps. We hold position until the tank's full, then he
disconnects and chucks the hose back and fucks off racer-stylee, whilst
Wik and I return to the pits to refill the auxiliary tanks.

    How's that?

Seems to me that an extended fuel range could make up for a lot of
rider/breakdown/other issues. Do we have the actual resources to achieve
it though? I'm surrounded by great business schemes that I shelve
because we cannot actually resource the tech issues.

I don't want to appear to be a safety nazi, but don't you think filling
the blingmobile's panniers with fuel and sending it out to do a mid lap
    refuel is a bit dangerous?

Extending the fuel range is easy. They just have to ride a little
    slower.

They didn't seem to like that idea when I suggested it. Maybe if you
    try?

What could possibly go wrong? It'll be a *little* trickier at night, but
we could mount one of those high-intensity LEDs to the end of the hose,
so the rider-monkey can see it.

If you want to run 80 minute sessions, consider accepting a mid-session fuel
stop. Then /reduce/ tank capacity to match and save 6-7 kilos max weight.
Then use that weight advantage to gain back the time used in the extra stop.
If the fuel stop is down around 22 seconds IIRC, can you make that up over
80 minutes? Also, the rider gets a few seconds to sit up, stretch, take a
breath etc. With 24 hours to get through, this may be a big help.

Remember that there's twice the opportunity for a refuelling ****-up.
Also, it's not that easy to accurately part-fill the tank using the
existing fuel rig, so you'd have to put something (foam?) in the tank to
    allow it to be filled.
