  1. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
Not as much as a main dealer would charge to wreck the bike.

Including the other stuff, it's probably nearer 150quid an hour.

Good show indeed. I'm very sorry I wasn't there. Thanks to everyone.
As Simon has said elsewhere in the thread, it's 1100 for the entry.
We *may* be able to do it on three sets [1] of tyres instead of four,
but we'll need the 4th set in case. If so, that'll just be 900 for
tyres, and the fuel (approx 500 litres) will be more like 400 than
    600. Still, that's a *minimum* of £2.5k, just to turn up, put tyres
on it and fuel in it.

However, it should be a truly ground breaking event in the UK, and I
    really can't wait.

[1] where a "set" is two rears and a front. We usually do a six hour
    on one "set".

Christ yes, a Golf GTI came soooo close to getting an early 80s yam as a
    hood ornament.

AAMOI will you still be planning a 1-hour on, 2-hours off rotation, or
something longer to give longer sleep breaks?

I favour 80 minute sessions if the bike will run that long on a tank.

Different strategy surely... instead of revving the nuts off you go for
    short shifting, long term...

And then discover it doesn't work as it runs out of fuel :)

You should get one of the electronic whiz's to make you up some sort of fuel
    guage.

Ackshirley, I'm hoping that the spanner monkeys acomplished their mission
at the last race and now know *exactly* how much fuel the bike uses in 1
hour round Snetterton. Thus allowing us to exrapolate.

<fx:turns to monkeys with expectant look on face>

    Well?

    <waits>

    <waits some more>

We're going to running hour sessions aren't we?

You could run one, then see how much was left in the tank (not quite sure
how this would work...) and make it up from there?

Just ride around in 6th everywhere.

Data logger and fuel flow meter is the techno method.

Weighing the tank before and after a race is another.

    No. You don't say?
Jeez, if we'd only thought of doing that at the last race.

A stick stuck in the tank would be my choice.

They did - it seemed that I used a lot (22 litres, or maybe even
more), whereas you and Daz only used around 19 litres. Ho hum.

I seem to recall seeing a sight glass on the side of the refuelling rig.
Perhaps the team could use the data from that?

    How big's the tank?

Suze and I logged almost 25 litres against you in either 43 or 45 laps,
so running on fumes. Considering how fast the fuel rig is we could do
120 minute sessions with a refuel. How about some crude work on the
split tank, open it, weld the leak internally and add capacity up to 90
minutes running? Come to think of it a 40 litre tank or with an
auxiliary tank would give you a huge time advantage. There may be regs
    of course.

Nominally, 24 litres. Tho the one we used at the last race has some
    (filled) dents in it.

Except there's a max 90 minute riding stint with a min 30 minute rest
    rule.
24 litres is already approx 24kg of fuel - I don't want to carry any
extra weight, especially as the only direction for the tank to grow is
    upwards, putting the weight high.

Well could it go wider at the front sides or could we do something under
and around the engine for instance.
