You've got heated kit so I don't see the problem.

I'm helped by the fact that V's scooter is unlikely to keep up on the
M25, let alone foreign roads with no speed limits.

I failed to pay attention and realised late it clashed with the SO's
    birthday.

I've booked the Monday off, so it'll be a sparrow's fart Eurotunnel on
    Saturday morning for me.

    Now, what to take ...

    Oh, cool.

I'm expecting/hoping to take the FJ. It'll give me a deadline to get
the bloody thing MOT'd and back on the road.

Looks like it's going to be a good weekend away ..

I've never been able to understand those sort of times after a night on
    beer.
Of course I may be considerably more lazy than the average slacker but I
wouldn't expect to lever an eyelid open before 10.

Breakfast "between 8.30-9.00" harks back to 1970s B&Bs, not a
    half-decent pub[1] in the 21st century.

Anyway, what's wrong with having a pint and a packet of pork
scratchings when they open the bar?

[1] Caveat: I've never been to the Black Horse.

I usually crawl out of my tent and make it inside the pub just in time
to grab the last couple of sausages and scraps of bacon.

And then spend five hours sitting around waiting to sober up enough to
even think about riding home. One day I'll learn.

Picture waking up in a tent, and needing coffee and warm food, and it
    all makes sense.

No, what makes sense in the year 2011, is ordering what you want, when
you want and it being cooked to order.

I'd have to leave home at stupid o'clock to get there for "breakfast
time" and I ain't doing that on a Sunday.

It's 160 miles from me. If I could *average* 80mph, which would be
tricky even if I did the utterly boring M-way route, I'd need to leave
    at 6.30.

Doing a nicer route, I suspect I'd be looking at leaving at 5.30.

    this again ^
As lovely as it sounds, I've got too much other "stuff" to do over the
weekend to warrant a 320 mile round trip just for breakfast. I can get
a couple of jobs done, and then have a more relaxed breakfast - I may
even wander down to Tesco for a fry-up.

  19. It is not "just for breakfast," it is for breakfast with ukrm the morning
    after the night before.

    On second thoughts ....

FWIW I don't remember breakfast starting before 9:00.
I did that mileage (in 2 hours) a few years ago, when Pat was away and
I hadn't booked a room. I wanted to try zymurgy's Blackbird in the
    CIHAGM.
