It could be so very polite and social to have a group of bikers
(Shower of cunts?) ride up together.

  2. In uk.rec.motorcycles, BGN belched forth and ejected the following:
I tend to get a little bit disorientated on the last leg of the journey
up. Not lost, but I do have to check the map a couple of times.

That said though, I've been a few times now and I'm confident I could
find my way there by just maybe checking the map once, just to double
    check.

The thing is, I really do know where I'm going but I hate getting lost
and I don't always have enough faith in my memory to know for sure that
    I haven't misremembered the directions.

  6. Here is a route that I have used before. I have also dragged several
ukrmers along this route in a convoy including Adie, Zymurgy, Dodger and
the Rev Auvache. I am sure they can provide their own comments as to
whether they think it is OK or not.

It isn't the fastest route but it is not as tedious as the M1 and there
is some lovely countryside and swoopy roads. Provided you follow the
road signs there is really no problem with this route at all.

    A1 / A1(M) to Stamford and take the A606.
left onto A 606 via Oakham to Melton Mowbray.
Round Melton one way system to A6006 sign posted for Loughborough.
Stick with A6006 until the very end and its junction with the A6. Turn
    right signposted Derby.
    Follow until junction with M1 / A50.
Take A50 signposted for Derby / Stoke. (left turn)
Follow A50 to A514 signposted Melbourne. (right turn via flyover
    roundabout junction)

Follow until A511 Derby Ring Road. (turn left onto A511). Follow until
junction with A38 Northbound (turn right via roundabout to get onto the
    A38 northbound).
Then take A6 for Matlock / Belper. (left turn at roundabout)
Follow until Duffield and turn left onto B5023. Follow until traffic
lights and turn left on A517 direction Ashbourne.

Instead of dragging yourself round the Derby ring road to the A38 / A6
junction you can do this instead -

Also for Hulland instead of doing the final A6 / B5023 bit there is a
turning just after the A52 junction signposted for Allestree,
Kedleston and Hulland. This is Keldeston Road. That brings you up the
    back road behind the pub.

One of my favourite bits of road when I'm going towards the pub. One of
my least going the other way. Purely for sentimental reasons of course.

I always use this route because it's a good thrash in either direction.
It gets the "Lozzo recommended" 4 stars

  8. I had to back up this thread a bit to see what it was all about...

However, that web-site doesn't have the version that, IIRC, was
performed at Midwinter in Mawson 1980. The duel in this case was to see
who could bed the most ladeez, and finished up with Abdul in full automatic
mode and Ivan flagging, so when he bent over to pick up his clothes,
Abdul mistakenly took him roughly from behind,

#So when you've had your bit,
    #Don't end up in shit,
    #Like Abdul Abulbul Amir.

    im Newsbeitrag...
Two more questions: What is a good place with a secure bike parking in the
Derby area that is not too expensive? I am not really into spending the
night in a tent in april, so it should be some kind of hotel or B&B house.
    Any suggestions

And, even more important: Riding home yesterday I noted that quite a lot of
people get their bikes out (beautiful weather here for some days now), and,
as a good biker you greet them all in the oncoming traffic with the left
hand... Which, on your side of the road means waving a hello to the flora &
fauna at the side of the road.
Surely you do not release your hand of the right grip - so HOW (if at all)
do YOU greet oncoming bikers with left-side driving?

You'll be in England. You will then have the right to act like a
miserable bugger when seeing other bikers.

You can either ignore the oncoming biker or nod. Or pull a wheelie.

They're an antisocial bunch over in Britain, who consider
acknowledging other bikers to be a sign of weakness. So a short nod,
that could be interpreted as an accidental gesture, is all they'll
    ever do.

I kinda like the near-handshake that we get over here[1] on the
    continang.

[1] Not here, as in right now, as I've no experience of californian
    bikers waving or not.
