BOSM - German guests?

    Hey!

I am seriously tempted to drive over from Germany to pay your BOSM a
visit... if Krauts can be accepted at least - I know myself we are not
    welcome... right? ;-)

I was always looking to cruise around the coast of Kent, and that would be a
nice reason to finally do it all in one long weekend. I know Derby is some
400km off of Dover, but what the hell... if it is warm by April, it will be
    fun.

The Eurotunnel is quoting me 30 Euros for a return (yes, thirty Euro for a
return ticket for rider and bike for a 3 day trip) so that is another "must"
    for that price.

Now, only question: Anyone of you driving Kent -> Derby on either Saturday
or Sunday morning? I could arrange my travel to Kent to meet up there and do
    the rest together.

    Cheers!
    Ralf

Just remember what happened the last time the Germans tried that... ;-)

Absolutely now **** off you square headed humourless sausage eating
    goose stepping hun.
April is only defined as warm in that it was colder in March. Dry is
what you want to be praying for, it can get very wet in Derby at any
time of the year and Kent for that matter and the bits in between.

Half a dozen or more will be setting out from that part of the world,
some of them on bikes and I am sure that they would be more than happy
to escort some new blood to the circus. Do please come if you are
able,[1] we would love to see you.

[1] In fact anybody who has not yet been to an *OSM and a few of those
    who have will be welcome.

there's a huge range of dates in Tescos @ Ponders End - what sort are
    you looking for?

It does vary greatly from store to store even within a single group,
which is very disappointing. I blame reliance on computer generated
statistics using poorly understood shopping patterns but what do I know?

Fat juicy ones with loads of sweet sweet sugar in them that melt in your
mouth and beg to be eaten again. Not necessarily big though but big is
    often better for texture.

A delivery[1] from Blaney is promised for noon tomorrow. If there are
any left over by the BOSM I shall bring them so that you can all see how
badly we are being ripped off and we are being ripped of most badly, as
you will see if there are any left.

[1] I am going to be *so* disappointed if the merkin taxpayer isn't
fronting for the transport costs. Really I am.

this particular Tesco has a very large "foreign foods" section, with a
lot of imported dates. I don't eat the things myself, but I was in
there on Sunday, looking for some West Indian chilli sauce, and
noticed the dates - probably 6 or 7 different sorts all in those sort
of small wooden coffins that North African dates come in.

If you've a particular type or make in mind, I can pick some up for
    you.

Not Tunisian is about all I can say with confidence.

Californian Medjool Dates, are the best large dates I have seen so far
but the short fat Iraqi dates which came via WC were delicious to the
    max.

I'll take the lot, you never know what is going to tickle your fancy
    unless you try them all.

If you have the capacity to deliver to the BOSM, I'll have them there
and along with those from the Bane we can have a tasting test. Loz had
better tell Mu to get some more extra strength bog paper in if we do
that though. If not then I can collect and bring enlightenment to the
    frozen north in the Mongvan.

    [dates]
I'm not going. At least, I've not told Lozzo I'm going, so even if I
wanted to go, it's probably too late.
    we'll work something out.

Staying over isn't required you know. You can just turn up, talk to
some people, give Auvache his dates and go home again. Think of it as a
    day out on the bike.

That's the way I view it at any rate.

staying over isn't the problem; if I were to go, I'd go in the car,
    and sleep in that.
I'd view that as >100 miles each way in probably pissy weather with
the destination being a pub where I can't really drink much beer.

Not my idea of a fun time.

Isn't Bear going? I still don't fancy the promised "punch in the
    fucking face".
preferably we can come to a solution that doesn't involve you knowing
    where I live[1].

[1] though given that the likes of Pip and Cane know, it's hardly
worth persisting in any attempt of keeping out the rabble.

I don't think he has mentioned it. Certainly not to me.

We'd laugh and I am intending taking a camera. G'won come, do what dwb
says and treat it as a day out.

I all ready know where you live, to within a couple of hundred yards at
    any rate.

A fly on the wall documentary of:-

A Day In The Life of darcy's Teeth.

We'll have a couple of cameras on you all day showing the journey they
make from sparking freshness after their early morning wash and brush up
through the gentle workout of breakfast and their adventures of grinding
and gnashing and winsome smiling all the way through to the end of the
day when they are all once more reunited in A@E.

Happy ending see, it works every time.

You seem to be missing the benefits of good company.

Hmm... maybe that's why you don't plan to go.

Well, again it's how you view it.

I view it as the journey there. Okay if the weather is crap then it's
not good, but for the EOSM for instance, the weather was okay, the
route I took was enjoyable - I enjoyed riding my bike.

The actual pub bit was good fun, but overall I had the day as a good
chance to ride my bike, talk some crap and then head home.

Beer had nothing to do with it.

    Horses for courses.
