You wouldn't be outside, you'd be inside a tent. Think of it as a little house made from very flimsy bricks, if it helps. Oh, lots and lots of beer helps you sleep pretty much anywhere as well. -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1, Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, DS#5, COSOC# Suspended, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.
You fucking big girl's blouse. Get a decent map, and head off in the general direction. When you're sure you're lost, stop, get out the map, and work out where you are. Then head off in the right direction again. Repeat until arrival. This can be part of the fun.
I once found my way to where I was going, based on the position of the sun. Plus I managed to get back to Soeul on one engine, with no GPS, one engine shot to ****, and with only a mechanical compass to help me. Ah ... good ol' F15-III by Microprose...
I once got lost routing from Staverton to Leavesden, and only managed to get picked up on radar and vectored back onto the right course when I was minutes away from crossing the Luton departure airway. Ah... good old D&D...
the cont known as platypus says... That's exactly what I did for my first *OSM (1) Or part of the "what the **** am I doing turning up to a meet with a bunch of people I met on the internet?" (1) When I did show up I was immediately greeted by {{hugs}} from both Bee and Snowy, which was nice
Indeed. If I flew my usual approach to 24 today, I'd smack into the corner of BT's Network Managment Centre.
I do it on occasion but not at a B/Eosm as I have a comfy bed in a centrally heated house 5 miles away and I don't drink. It does mean you get to miss 'interesting' bits such as the noises from Sean's tent but they're often better described rather than experienced. Top marks for coming - I went to my first one last year, poked my head round the door, spotted an orangutan look a like said 'you must be Pip' and the rest was history. Cold, hard ground, pissed people snoring, small space, no mattress. Or somone else has bribed them. And will you be attending this year Mr C? Oh and frag did you get a B&B sorted or do you still want the bed settee? And same offer as last year, there are sofas here if the weather is horrendous and you've knackered bits.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I'm there. As a newbie it'll be my longest trip so far on my little beastie. Something like a 5 hour trip each way from South-East Kent.
I like places like that. Heating, walls, running water... Thanks. I'll be travelling light.... but I'm not sure what to bring. I'll muddle through.
~£30. http://www.yell.com/ucs/UcsSearchAction.do?keywords=camping&companyName=&l ocation=Kent&searchType=classic&broaderLocation=&clarifyIndex=0&clarifyOpt ions=CAMPING+%26+OUTDOOR+EQPT&ooa=on Personally I'd go to one of the independents but Millets do cheap and cheerful.
Mine was about £40.
