I'm not sure of the *original* source of that rhyme but it's
certainly used by other counties as well, Hampshire being one.

oh sure - it's probably used in every rural town and county in the
    country.

    It soitainly is.

No mention of bungees/cargo net/webbing straps, however.

Even with my FZRs minimal luggage carrying capacity, I should have no
problems getting my kit on it[1]. You shouldn't have any problems on
    your bike at all.

[1]The only thing I can't take is an extra pillow that usually stops me
getting trapped nerves in my spine.

Nope. I'll have to grab some cargo nets or a few bungees over the
    next few days.

Are those standard cargo nets? They look pretty big.

Just the one standard cargo net (much used), Frank Thomas Cargo
throw-over panniers, a Baglux 'Alpha' tank bag (in almost daily use 10
years on) and the compulsory blue refuse sack for sleeping bags. That
little lot was for three weeks touring around Europe - my ex had the
tent and some other bits on a borrowed BMW K100RT (1).

Having examined the original photo, the thing on the rider's seat is
the waterproof cover for the tank bag.

    (1) A picture of that is now lurking on the web page too.

....only thing missing being the tent strapped to my back.

    Tested as secure to 130...

I just bought a tank bag! Wahay! My storage problems are gone! Ooh,
    and a cargo net.

When the sky looks a little less scary I will try to put my rucksack
on the rear of the bike. I was querying the cargo net as the Oxford
cargo net I just bought (to help secure the rucksack) says that it is
only for securing up to 1Kg.

I guess people stretch that limit though :) This week I'll have to
have a run around with it "fully loaded: BoSM stylee" to see how
    everything works.

Oh, and I've got two new Bridgestones on it as of 4pm. They're eerily
quiet compared to the Dunlops they replaced.

Are you TTing this year if so where are you staying and when are you going?

We are staying at Francochamps near Castletown again and going 4th to 12th

Nope, not going this year. The last couple of times I went the weather
was so dire it was unbelievable. And of course, dropping a GSXR750 on
your knee and sustaining a nice break doesn't help much, especially
when Nobles Hospital tell you that it *isn't* broken. Only for the
consultant at the local A&E to wonder why they managed to miss
something so obvious on their x-ray, culminating in a 1-week stay while
    they operated and physioed.

Nobles finally relented and gave me crutches, by which time I had
missed my ferry. It took a lot of persuasion to get the SR to allow me
on the later ferry rather than wait until Thursday (obviously, by this
time skint, and I had been camping. Camping again wasn't an option and
I had no cash to B&B it).

The rest of the day until the 10pm sailing was spent in the Bushy's
tent wearing leathers and a bin-bag (I wasn't the only one like that,
it was bloody horrendous) waiting for the hours to tick by until I
    could board the ferry.

Oh, and I think most of the guys I used to enjoy watching are no longer
with us, and I'm not really up-to-date with the current batch of riders
so I don't really feel inclined to pay all that money.

Added to that, the amount of hols I have a year, I can't do France,
Belgium, IOM, Ireland, Scotland and France again in a year, so I have
to pick and choose what I can manage to do. The TT is currently not at
the top of the list, I'm afraid.
If you're sailing from Liverpool and need a place to stay overnight,
feel free to holler. The ferry is only 5.5 miles away from here )

Nick emerged from their own little world to say

They all do that. My GIVI Monorack says something like "max load 5kg"
which is complete bollocks. The empty topbox weighs most of that. They
just don't want you to sue them if something falls off or breaks.

Leave the fully laden thing a day or two. Get used to the feel of the
    new tyres first....

The OE rack on the GT750 was rated at something like 5 or 10kg, but it's
more than strong enough for me to use to lift up the back of the bike
and move it around without any concerns.

Conversely, the rack I got for my pushbike, made of something like 10mm
alloy tubing, is rated at 40kg, which seems much more realistic.

    Oh good.
They've got 175 miles left until they're run in.
