Anyone here ever had one and if so, what was it like in terms of finish and fit etc? Thanks
You after a can for the GSXR? I've got a Remus Titanium race can (and proper link pipe) sitting around doing nothing. Open to reasonable offers.
CdC hada pair on his Blackbird, iirc - he sold then to Zymogurgley. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..75073../..18420.../..3184./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 IbB#4 '^' RBR Landmarks: 12 Pts: 220 Miles: 914
Ben says... I don't do race cans, sorry. The one I'm looking at has a road legal baffle. If I tried to fit that one you have to my bike then I'd have to junk the exhaust valve, which is something I'm reluctant to do.
'Hog says... It started as soon as I got home. It no longer wears the rack or Baglux cover, they will be fitted and used as and when required. I sussed the rear left mini-indicator's weird flashing, they sold you a bulb with ofset pins which is a different wattage. I guess it was a bastard to fit Anyway, a new one of the correct type went in last night and everything's fine again. At the same time I fitted some p- clips to hold the brake lines onto the front mudguard and a new screen I got for 20 quid from Harris. Btw, it blew the other rear indicator bulb on the way home from Dublin, so I stopped at my mate's in North Wales and fitted one we nicked from his son's bike. I have a spare bulb under the seat now, just in case.
Bear says... The benfits don't outweigh the gains imo. I'd lose midrange, which is where I tend to ride most of all, and I'd gain a **** load of noise I don't want. I can't see any benefits. I'd lose two ways, three if you count paying money for it too.
Feck, what did you take the rack off for?! it took a while to get on properly. I liked the cover on, that's the new tank you have there I believe It was a bit! but it was the only one of that appprox size I could find. Have you realised just how Hom those front indicators are yet? Yeah those lines are way too long for those bars, had them made for flats. Of course I have standard length goodridge hoses too....;o) 'Hog
Fair enough. That's what I meant by a proper link pipe. It's a standard Suzuki link pipe with exhaust valve that has a three bolt fitting to suit the can rather than a normal 4 bolt fitting. Works perfectly.
Ben says... That's different, that means that any number of exhaust cans can be fitted, not just the Remus. How much for the link pipe alone?
'Hog says... It came off easily enough, so I shouild think it'll go back on in the same way. It certainly looks like new. I hate covering nice looking paintwork with bits of vinyl. We had a US Air Force Base round here called Chicksands, though it's not US forces any more. You could tell the airmen's cars cos they all had those sick looking plastic bras on the front of otherwise nice looking sports cars. Fucking horrible looking abominations. Baglux covers remind me of loud-mouthed US airmen who can't hold their drink I'm afraid. I'll fit it only when it's needed. Easy mistake to make. Hom in extremis. New orange lenses and Indy-spacers have been ordered on the cheap from my mate who's a Frank Thomas rep. (same company own Motrax) I take it they'll come with the other bits soon then? The p-clips I've fitted will be ok for correct length lines as I've put them just where the line's natural run comes from the caliper.
I had one on the gsxr750, wasn't the road legal but had the removable baffle [1]. Made a nice sound with and a great sound without the baffle. There are loads of companys doing these type with the EU legal stamp and removable baffle. Even akrapovic apparently do one now. Other than that, I was happy with it.
Straight fit with no probs whatsoever - the finish however was a bit suspect. Brushed aluminium that stained mightily. YMMV depending on finish. Nice sound though. Cheers Paul.
says... I didn't win the auction, so immaterial now, but thanks all the same. This one was titanium so would have been a better finish.
Ah well it went on at the same time as the nightmare undertray, most of the hassle was in the latter. Glad I didn't chop the hooks though. I think it came off a new bike converted for racing Oh i know the pins were wrong! but it was all Halfords had. What, no black? I put them on as an act of humour. They would have Hmm they were kinda earmarked for putting the 6 pots onto the R100RS for fun. Hey swap for the high bar lines, no good to you. 'Hog
'Hog says... If it'll make life easier for you to fit the Tokicos to the BMW then fair enough, you can have the longer lines back. Is anyone willing to bleed my brakes afterwards for me. If they won't make a difference then these ones will do me fine as they don't catch on anything even on full lock or compression.
LOL you can have them anyway <paging hydraulic engineers> Akcherly new lines is *really* easy. Remove old line at calliper and put a bung over the end. Hold new line in a u shape and fill/flush well thru with fluid using a syringe. Bolt new line to calliper. Lead open end up to master cylinder Ensure master cylinder if full and keep the top screwed on Loosen banjo bolt and exchange line(s) Quick bleed through by normal means, it never takes more then a couple of cylinders full assuming it was a well bled system to begin with, Bob's your cross dressing auntie. This was a great one at Park Lane. You got 15 minutes free workshop time and half a pint of brake fluid left over. 'Hog
