And you had the gall to accuse /me/ of depicting stereotypes! FFS.

He's already banned booze on public transport, I can't believe it, I
never thought anyone would have the guts to do so in Booze Britain. I'm
all for it, it can be quite intimidating, and I don't see why it's so
important to have that privilege, any more than it is important to smoke
    cigarettes on public transport.

NB Bob Crow, the union guy has already, laughably[1] complained that
    they weren't consulted.

"We are being told that it will be our members who will have to approach
people drinking and ask them to stop - but the mayor hasn't asked us
    what we think."

"Perhaps the mayor will come out with his underpants on over his
trousers like Superman one Saturday to show us how it should be done,
and maybe tell a crowd of Liverpool supporters that they can't drink on
    the train.'

I don't understand, isn't keeping order a part of the job that they
signed up for? I'm sure if I took a shit on the platform at Oxford
Circus, that someone would tell me not to.

I also note that it appears to be okay for the socialists to conjure up
insulting stereotypes, but when Boris complained about the scousers he
was castigated as if he had kept children in a cellar.

    Typical, hypocritical double standards.

fortunately only on tubes and busses. It's still OK to have a cheeky
drink on the way home on the overground.

I think he's seeking whatever approval is necessary to do that.

But of course the citizens are the customers who expect services the
    "Company" should provide.

But they also get to choose who runs the `company'.

Overground? Is that what we yokels would call a train?
And will that mean that I can't get a free drink until I pass Watford?

yes. But the vehicles on the London Underground are also "trains", so
I used the word "Overground" to indicate that I mean trains other than
    those on the Underground.
I don't know about "free", but you can still drink any booze you've
brought onto an overground train, even if you're boarding it on a
    "London Transport" ticket.

It's some former suburban BR rail services that were incorporated into
TFL(MAYOR OF LONDON)'s portfolio[1] last year, and given some puke-inducing
orange branding(MAYOR OF LONDON). They do seem to have more personnel
now, which is good as before large parts of the network appeared
virtually unmanned and unsafe, but the services IME are pretty
unreliable. I don't know why, it's hardly rocket science.

I'd never be drinking on that train.

NE trains from Liverpool St. to Enfield Town, though, I'm quite likely
to be sucking down a swift M&S G&T...

    "Stakeholders"

Having customers who are also suppliers or shareholders is a fucking
nightmare, in business or anything else.

We were discussing this the other day in a quiet moment on the course
I'm doing this week. One of our number was convinced that it was already
illegal to drink on trains until I pointed out that they sell the stuff
    at the buffet car.

Sometimes the Thresher by platform 9 is the only thing that gets me
    through the journey home.

It's okay, no need to worry. Ken's TFL put up signs for people to be civil to
each other, give up their seats, not play shite music on a tinny phone
loudspeaker as if they aren't aware that the whole fucking bus can hear and
hates it. So that's okay. It's like I said about policy the other day.
    Words, and little action.

What sort of society has it become, where people need to be told to do fucking
obvious things like get up so a pregnant lass can sit down?

Actually I often see chav scum look at a poster and exclaim, "Oh, heck, I had
better take my feet off the seat, what an irresponsible **** I am."

Incidentally, I knew I needed to cut down when the bar at platform 10
gave me a loyalty discount card.

haha - I have one of those for the "Centre Page" on Knightrider Court
    - 10% off all food and drink - pretty good deal, actually.

  18. Heh! Due to an attack of hayfever affecting my vision, I voted for
him twice. So I had the embarassment of taking back the spoilt paper and
exchanging it for a new one.

  19. Saw one in Uxbridge today. Green it was. Wiv a conductor 'n' all.
If the route board was to be believed it served Slough, inter alia. Didn't
remember the route number, unfortunately, but it had a London-Transport-style
roundel with "The Green Line" along the horizontal bar. Came past my U3 as
we were heading up Vine Street, then steamed past us onto Park Road as we
were waiting at the roundabout at the end of High Street.

Speaking of buses, I was disappointed to find out today that,
while the U1 has been extended to West Drayton station rather than
terminating at Hillingdon Hospital, it now travels to the east of Brunel,
so my local stop is now only served by the U3 and U5. Since this change
occurred on May 3rd, I can only assume Boris had a hand in it!
