    BBC News....

The committee asked Mr Johnson what action he had taken before he was
made aware of transport problems on 1 February.

The mayor replied: "I observed that it had started to snow."

I have no view on whether he was guilty as charged or not, but I can
visualise the delivery of his deadpan answer. His answer probably won't
make him many friends in high places but a nice riposte all the same

    Oh, give over Paul.

It snowed. They gritted the roads. It snowed on the grit. Thirty buses
crashed. They decided it was too dangerous to carry on. It wasn't just
the buses that failed - it was everything.

What was Boris supposed to do?

I presume darling Ken would have been up all night with a shovel and a
broom, and the whole of London would have been lovely.

It shouldn't mean that he has to tolerate half-witted questions posed
by people asking them for the sake of being awkward.
Which is pretty much Boris' take on things, by the sound of it.

But he's a Tory, and Tories are *evil*.

  6. The question was silly.
In which case, you know that he could do nothing?

I'm a Londoner but I don't think he could have done anything about the impact
of the extreme weather conditions. He's showing up the holier-than-thou
wankers for what they are. Commons Select Committee... Like picking a few
turds out of a pile and calling it the Faeces Select Pile.

Maybe Paul's objection to Boris is that he won the election (and
therefore mandate) based on personality and name-recognition, not
    policies.

    Oh, wait...
