So, power = torque at redline on a GL1500?

    Simple enough, even for me.

    Phil Launchbury says...
Every spare weekend I'd ride on Friday evening from Arborfield Garrison
near Reading to Bedford, drop off my washing with my sister, then carry
on up to see my girlfriend in Leicester. On Sunday I'd ride back to
Bedford, pick up the washing then ride back to barracks.

How I ever had the energy to shag the girlfriend is anyone's guess.

I've not done it on the Blackbird. I appear to have mislaid my bottle,
    somewhere around my 30th birthday.

There's even less chance of me trying on the KH500.

"Twice the terror, at half the speed"

Done it on the Wing, though. :)

Not really. there is more torque at x rpm than on the other motor. There
will probably be less torque at x+n00 rpm.

They've not told the entire truth.

  10. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
It's not a straigtforward situation. Smaller carbs tend to give better
cylinder filling at lower revs, thus increasing the torque developed at
that engine speed , but run out of sheer airflow capacity at higher rpm.

Sarah's dad used to do something like that, when he was a Halton apprentice.
RAF Halton to Southampton, every weekend he could get away with it, on a
    fixed-gear bicycle.

I was 33 when I got the 9R[1] and I will admit that I decided
that an indicated 170 was "enough".
    So what did it do?

[1] I'll have had it 7 years in couple of weeks time.
That's by far the longest I've ever kept a bike, beating the
previous 5.5 years for the ZXR750.

Mine's seen 155. I got the demo one up to 165 along the A40 past RAF
    Northolt, though. Plenty, tyvm.
Indicated 210kph on the A1 down towards Paris.

On the long downhill stretch near Parc Asterix.
