The A1 test is very long.

Yes, true, but doesn't that go for every bike ever produced?

Mostly. But, your original point was that your 45bhp bike would only
do 100mph. Which, frankly, means you don't have 45bhp.

Unless someone's done something stupid with the gearing. AAMOI, what
revs does it do at ~100mph?

To be fair, it was my bottle that gave out, and the fact that a
roundabout was coming up fast, it was quite windy, I was carrying a lot
of tools on the back may have had something to do with it.

Must have been over 14,000rpm, I wasn't looking as it was a sweeping
left hander and there was a roundabout coming up at 100 and there were
cars to avoid. I know peak hp is supposed to be at 16,000rpm on these
    engines.

OK, you did say "the most I've seen".

In which case, it's your obvious duty to go out and "see what it'll do
    Mister".

When I've fettled it a bit more, and given it a new set of plugs, maybe.

I thought everyone did that as soon as they got a new bike.

Although I admit that every *brand* new one I've had has been
    run in a bit first.

What they mean is that they've reduced the *peak* power output.

    Power=torquexrpm/5500 if memopry serves

They've tuned to create more torque at lower revs.

So you may have more torque lower down the rev range. As a sacrifice the rpm
at which peak power is output may also have shifted, and the torque at that
rpm may be less as well.

    Does that help?

    Probably not

They mean 'Adds torque lower down in the rev range and gives a flatter
torque curve, which equates to a smoother, more linear, power
    delivery'. HTH.
It's also a definitive one, as has been quoted here before.

    5250, ITYF.
As will the peak power itself, of course.

I shall certainly stand to be corrected on this. TBH I can barely get my
head round the concept without looking at the graphs myself
You see? I just can't make that kind of definitve statment. I would
imagine that you're right, but I can't conceive of how you could work that
out to be true in all cases.

Well if the torque is lower at a given engine speed, then so is the
power. By the definition that you yourself posted.

Yes, but does that mean that the maximum power is lower? There might be
lower torque at max power RPM, but that RPM may be higher, IYSWIM
