    Just been out on the Raptor for its first proper ride (i.e. out of
    town). It's way beyond box of frogs territory. What an utterly fucking
    barking toy - love it!

    Does that model have the Ducati 1000DS lump in it?

    No, nothing so weedy. It's the Suzuki TL1000S lump.

    I know it's a Jap engine but it must've been designed by a closet
    Italian. It's more like a stroker than a big V-twin. Sure it's got
    loads of low down grunt, but when it hits 7k it goes mental.

    Wrap it up in a *tiny* sit-up-&-beg package with suspension that would
    struggle to keep a 400 single in check, throw in the typical MV steep
    steering head angle of that era, & you can guess what the results are.

    @news.eternal-september.org:

    Crippling, in more ways than one.

    Hysterical is the word I'd use, having just done a few hours of testing
    different Power Commander maps[1]. With the Beowulf cans back on
    (removed for the MOT), K&N & a suitable map it now picks the front up
    just under acceleration in the first four gears. I think I need to buy
    a steering damper before it all ends in tears.

    [1] One's best up to 3k, another's best over 7k, yet another's best
    everywhere else. So off to the dyno we go.
