  1. Anyone know of a good solicitor for motoring offences. Just had a summons
to appear at Blandford CC in the post for a speeding ticket that happen
four months ago. Allegely doing 94.02 on the Bere Regis Bypass in my van.

Can they take this long to summons you?

To my knowledge, which I admit is rather limited, they can take up to six
months. At least that was the case the last time I enquired, and it is
also Scotland, so England may be different I don't know.

I'm not being very helpful am I? Shall I just get me coat?

When you get banned, can I borrow your van?

  5. Same here.
I thought they needed to caution you in person to do this. If it was a
camera or other such device I think it's 14 days.
It took them nearly six months to nick me, but they'd pulled me over and
cautioned me at the time that it was going to take that long.
    I'll join ya!

If they pulled you over and gave you a verbal notice of intented prosecution
then they can take up to 6 months. If it was a speed camera then they have
to send a NIP to reach the registered keeper (which may not be you if it's a
    company van) within 14 days.

I have heard good things about this firm although I have never used them
    myself http://www.tclaw.co.uk/

I use one who seems to know his stuff but he's in Southampton.

Would you like his phone number?

All they have to claim that they sent it in time - it doesn't have to
turn up. Remember Lozzo's day in court?

    Mark,

Go to http://www.pepipoo.com and log onto fightback forums, judicial
process. There are people there who can anwer your questions and
recommend specialist motoring solicitors. Essentially they have 6
months from date of offence to lay papers. If not pulled at the time
you should have recieved a notice of intended prosecution by first
class post or better addressed to you at your home (last known)
address (the registered keeper of the van should have received the
first NIP in the chain within 14days).

Its worth checking the envelope - I got my son off because the postmark on
the NIP envelope was more than 14 days after the "offence".

Won't really help the OP (or Lozzo) as they never received the NIP,
    just the summons.

    Which was kinda my point.

So that's where the NIP will have got sent, and it'll be lying in the bottom
    of someone's in-tray.

So if that's the case, explain how he got the summons...

Far more likely it went straight *out* of someones in-tray and back to the
relevant authorities, said someone having grassed him up[1] and not even
having the courtesy to tell him.

[1] As they are obliged to do :-(

Occurred to me just after I hit the send key.
Yup. Cunts. He should be able to find out exactly /which/ **** from the
police, as said **** has effectively made a witness statement that Mark was
    the driver at the time.

  17. Never recieved a NIP. I was pulled over and he showed me the VASCAR
    readout and cautioned.
It did take them 12 days from writing the summons to posting it though

  18. Yes please. I'm local to Southampton but the Law Courts are in Blandford.
I already contacted one guy who is in Totton but was very busy and passed
me onto a firm in Bournemouth

    Cheers

Ah, there you go then. You got a verbal NIP. They then have six
    months to summons you.
