[a load of books by authors which this pleb has never heard of]
What puzzles me further still is how he manages to cram all this reading
in between ukrm, "work", bikes and whatever else he gets up to (which I'm
sure I don't want to know)...

I liked to think I "enjoy a good read" but frankly I find that I don't
have time to and also wouldn't know what's good from bad, anyway.

  4. A typo,[/QUOTE]

I'd read the thread all wrong and got it arse about face. I missed
    darsy's bit about consolation.
What's that got to do with anything?

Blimey that's steep. I ordered quite a few CDs from amazon.com
and it worked out cheeper than buying it in the UK or amazon.co.uk.
Mind you, that was a few years back, maybe things changed, and
they were told not to poach customers?

If you look at the exchange rate that's probably the same as the UK
P&P. I've often ordered stuff cheaper from amazon.com than
amazon.co.uk because of a good exchange rate.

How the **** can you not have heard of J.G.Ballard? The rest, I'll
grant you, being as you are a philistine.
I mostly ukrm at "work", which is about 45 hours (including travel
time (bikes)) per week, weekend biking is usually limited to a few
hours on a Sunday morning at most. I do spend quite a lot of time in
    the kitchen.

I checked the stack last night - it's "Still Air" by Ian Banks.

    ^^^^^^^

not particularly carefully - it's called "Dead Air".

Not too bad actually, certainly the best non-M book for a while.

I didn't mind Whit, though I didn't think it very good. "The Business"
is much worse, and "Song of Stone" is dire.
