something like 25-30 hours a week of reading.

I read books when "normal" people watch TV.

I posted that when drunk last night. It's probably no more than 20
hours a week, now I've added it up sober.

if a book is none of: funny, interesting, original, well written, well
characterised or entertainly quirky, then it's "shit". Don't get me
wrong - when I say "shit", I mean "I didn't really like it very much".
There've only been (I think) 3 books that I've started and found so
poor that I couldn't finish them.

    [4-5 books/week]
well, I intersperse "serious" with "not serious" books - for instance,
something like "A Suitable Boy" took me the guts of a week to read,
but I can get through an Ian Rankin "Rebus" novel in a couple of
hours. I also read more than one book at the same time (not literally
of course, but over the same time span).
    It is a fairly daft question - I /like/ reading. I also don't sleep
    very much.

    Ah. Lucky bugger.

I'm always jealous of people who survive on 5 hours asleep a night.
Assuming we live to the same age, you'll have had more 'life' than me
    :-(

most of the time. Sometimes I would be nice *not* to wake up at 6am
    every morning.
I've never thought of it that way, and anyway, you can console
yourself with the fact that I spend most of this extra 'life' reading
books, rather than doing anything, well, more interesting than reading
    books.
