    I've replaced the cylinder/piston/head and cleared out the shrapnel, but I
    can't get it to start because the loom has rotted away. New loom on order,
    other bits already arrived. I'm just losing the will to live BMW-wise.

    I noticed that they were rather expensive. It's the only reason I
    haven't just gone out and bought and 1150 GS. I'm waiting to play
    with a Triumph Tiger and then... whatever anyone else has to offer on
    that scale for Big people.
