Yes, that time again.......need a rear tyre for the K1200R

Current tyre didnt last as long as previous tyres . Would like to get a few
more k's from next tyre but also want handling and at a good price.....yes I
    want everything

Now lets break it down :

1/ Good Price ..... non existent for bike tyres.

2/ Handling ..... I guess that equals soft but I don't push it as much
as a lot of other people would so would a harder compound tyre still give me
that little barrier between upright and kissing the gravel ?

3/ More K's .... or maybe ride less and they last longer or even wear then
down to the canvas ... have about 1 -2 mm tread left but have trip to
    Brissie coming up

    Current trye is a Sportec M-1 190/50 ZR17

I'm going by what the boys at ringwood BM recommended and I have it on
the rear (z4 on the front).
Grip and wear is very good considering I do mostly commuting.
Most bmw cop bikes have the z6 tyres so they can't be that bad.
Can't comment on the michlins but going by the ringwood boys the bm's
    seem to love the metzelers.

Shinko 005. $260 for a pair on the 'bird. Don't know where you'd get
them in the 'gong, but there's a place in Melbourne that sells the 190
rear for $170 and $100 for the front tyre. If you ring 0413 461 353 and
speak to a man called Craig he's in Sydney and he can sort you out.

Got Z6 front and read on my R1100RT. A lot less power than the K, but
weighs 350kg with me on board.
Got 28,000km from the last front, and 22,000km from the rear, with
3,000km of that tearing around Tassie!

Well went to my local rip off shop and spent $318 on the rear tire

I was close to going the Sportec M3 but 6000k's isnt enough

Saw the pilot and it looked ok ended up with the Z6

I guess in a couple of months it will be time for the front

    Thanks Smee, Nev,Boyds & Mike
