Is it true or just an urban myth that these wheels (spokes at the edge of
the rim allowing tubeless tyres to be fitted) are only rebuildable(?) by
    BMW?

BMW use a special jig to set up the wheel in the factory which does the
    job in minutes.

If you need to replace a broken spoke then this can be done by anyone
with the right tools, although getting the old one out can be troublesome.

    This thread at http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showth...13f6938a&threadid=11800&highlight=wheel+spoke
shows that there are at least 2 companies in the UK that will rebuild a wheel.
A common practice as some people prefer the appearance of the weaker stainless
    spokes.

Just for info, a new wheel costs £450 according to the invoice sent by
Rydale in Cardiff to National Tyres when they damaged my rear rim.

Thank you for the info. I'm interested in buying an R1100GS. The rims are OK
but the spokes are absolute crap.
