Yeah, well, leaving it in the hands of the wreckers turning up
appropriate bits, is just a subtle form of procrastination. ;-)
    ...as with a Triumph. :)
Aye, the right one should be the full bottle, but it's the left one that
I'd really want to get on the cheap, given it's only half a pannier with
that big gap for the muffler.
The things that look like bump-stops?
<sigh> It is, compared to the list on all the wee bits and pieces that
add up, quite a good price, but I seem to have been giving them large
sums of money just lately and feel the need to easy up on that habit.

In the mean time, I found a $10 kids backpack and a bit of non-slip
plastic seems to have given me at least a minimum carrying capacity.

Hat, smokes, and wet weather gear.
I came across a theory that was the cat, the big s/s box between the
header pipes and the muffler, quietens down the exhaust sufficiently
that some folk remove the muffler all together, just tacking on a car
    type stubby trail pipe.

Looked a bit too tacky for me though, and probably a cop-magnet too.
Yeah, I dunno if I can retro fit the proper light switch or not. That,
if possible, would be the ideal. Failing that, in '98, the Euro models
had an operational light switch, but it might mean getting the whole
    switch block.

Anyhow, all that said, I'm still pleased with the beast.

Sitting, with the seat in it's lowest possie, the big wide bars and big
screen, I feel like a proper cruiser, and that I should have a Captain
America painted helmet and a joint. :)

Bumblebeeman tried this on his 1150. He reckon it sounded horn!
My 1100 had this era of switches:
    http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/bargearse/switch.jpg
It was the same as K100s and K75s so they were quite easy to find.
I'm guessing yours is different though.
    Kapitan Bavaria jah?

But did it attract the cops?
Mine looks very like I remember the K100RS one, and the one pictured in
    your later posting.
    Jahwohl!

Maybe the swastika's might not work too well.

I manage to get into "heated discussions" at times over the Eureka flag. :-(

  7. I didn't have it set up that way for long but the small noise increase
was not likely to raise questions, provided I kept the chromed exhaust
tip that I bought at SuperCheap fitted (somehow it looked less bodgey
    that way).

It turned the sewing machine sound into, well, a more butch sewing
    machine. And saved about 10kg.

Clem's right; it allows a full-sized left-side case to be fitted.

It would probably look very trendy now, what with the GP bikes having
    wee stubby exhausts.
Not something to be sneezed at.
Also, very useful if you can get a full-sized left case at a reasonable
    price.

Hmm, well, if a good low Staintune doesn't show up, maybe I'll give it a go.

I'm assuming that an 850 will generate less noise than an 1100.

  9. What thickness wetsuit? I never thought of my 3mm as a possible bit of bike
riding gear. The 5mm would be way too thick though.

I had serious difficulty convincing a Yank I knew in Sydney, that
Wagga was short for Wagga Wagga. That he had a map that said Wagga
    didn't help me much.

You should never have a sentence with and & and & and a third time without
having some other words between them.

I've already called in at MotoHansa, it's not too far from my place.
If it's the same mob that Clem found, at two hundred English pounds, I
really don't want it that badly.

In the next month I'll be heading off to Greece, so I'll inquire there,
hopefully with a more realistic price.

The other alternative is for me to buy a whole K75, and strip the
headlight switch from it, but Angie would kill me. :-(

Old age...mental confusion...too many beers....take your pick of excuses.

I think I had been looking at too many pommie BMW places.

Two ten Ozzie seems like a reasonable price actually.

    Thanks Clem.

BTW, on the K-bikes and the more modern Rs, they have some rectangular
rocker switches, on mine there is heated grips, hazard flasher, and a
    dummy blanking one.

Are all of these rockers physically interchangeable?

I'd like to replace the dummy one with a fog light switch, and wondered
    how hard it might be.

Ta Sharkes; none of the rockers ever functioned on my K75 so I don't know
    much about them......
