Is BMW servicing any better / any more expensive than other dealers? Part of
    my consideration for next bike.

    about:
I can only compare my Daytona to my Adventure, for a major service the
Triumph is about twice the price of the BMW. (Dealer prices)

It seems to be a little more expensive, generally. But you'll be
doing it less often, in my experience anyway. As for better,
that'll depend on your dealer. Sawbridgeworth were great. Others,
take your chances. I found that the dealers who only sold bikes
were generally better regarded than the ones that sold both bikes
and cars. Typically, BMW was apparently trying to phase out the
"bike only" dealerships. I don't know how far they've gotten
with this stupid fuckwitted plan of theirs.

it was him was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
*If* you can find a reputable BMW specialist you may find that
servicing is both better and cheaper than for other makes. As to
'better', that mostly depends on the dealer. Some of them are very
good, some of them are anything but.

    Less often, probably more expensive.

But you pay a lot more to start with.

it was him emerged from their own little world to say
    Service prices vary widely.

    For example, from www.ukgser.com/forums a 24k service for a 1150GS can
be close to £400 in a Central London dealer but half that at a BVM in
Stroud or Rydales in Cardiff. Scotland is another expensive area for BMW
servicing apparently as there are few dealers.

As others have said, consider the independents if the bike is out of the
2 year warranty period. The website given above will help you source
them. I know there are highly rated ones in Preston, London & Devon.

Another alternative, if you live in an area with expensive servicing is
to get it done whilst on holiday. The money you save will part finance
the trip. Again, on that website you will find stories of people who
have had services done in France, Bavaria, Prague et al. IIRC a 24k
service in Prague is not much over £100.

Bear in mind that for a BMW over 24k you will have 4 services. A Honda
    requires 6.

I find the servicing quality depends on the dealer rather than the bike.
I would recommend mine (CW Motorcycles, Dorchester, Dorset) - good,
    professional service and friendly.

I haven't noticed my BM services being any more expensive than Triumphs
and Kwaks I have had, generally
