Whilst I'm a great fan of the R100RT/R80RT since it was my my first
motorbike mislabelling it as a K is a bit silly.

Besides my K75S has been SORNed for over 3 years now and whilst i've got
the Honda it's unlikely to make it back onto the road.

I have no idea wether you are right or not, it is a well known fact that
98.7% of all statistics or generalisations are made up on the spot.
I believe many BMW problems are generally down to lack of use, but I have
nothing to back that up other than looking at the available bikes and the
mileages on them. ToGs for instance, and mine of a similar low mileage(when
    I bought it last year.)

R100/7 owned from 30k to 100k Gear box bearings, affecting 5th gear only,
went twice, one torn carb diaphram and the standard consumables.
K100 LT owned for 25K til written off, 1 set front wheel bearings +
    consumables.
    K1100LT 15 months, 10k, 2 switches (clutch lever & sidestand) and a set of
    handlebar mtg rubbers.
Nothing there to leave me static at the side of the road or injured due to
    failure of some major component.
    Just my experience of BMWs

How many have you owned, as a matter of genuine interest?

Well, yeah - they seem to be releasing bikes based on the banana
principle, as we call it in Germany. "Ripens at the customer's"...

    Scraggy says...

I have never, and will never own one. I've seen and heard of too many
BMW failures to be even remotely interested in buying one. Just about
every bike I see on the hard shoulder of the motorways is a BMW of some
    variety.

Strange indeed, most bikes I see broken down or stuffed in hedges are
    Japanese.

Marvellous these blinkers, Cherman see, TÜV tested.
